That's a tough answer to fill, Illomen. Especially without some cost guidance. I tentatively offer this: Dig around on the I'Net. Try CNET. They will show prices and give some general comparisons. Also, if you favor a few brand names, you will probably find comparisons at thier websites. I'm not sure how many people you will find in this forum who purchased a camera with the main consideration of using it for highly detailed texturing. I fall into the category of having purchased my camera for general purpose (with emphasis on manual control...no point and click for me). I would think a lot of people here did the same thing, so you may find that some people will recommend their camera with out realizing they may be doing so thinking about ALL thier camera's abilities instead of just the one thing you mentioned you wanted it for. Take a look at color ability and sharpness tests. Just because a camera will hit 3 or 4 megapixels doesn't mean it will do it sharply at the corners. It's kinda like the Pentium IV is the fastest processor, but the Athlon machines with slower processor keeps right up with it. Another suggestion: Run over to the market place and see who is making highly detailed textures for sale. Then IM them and ask politely if they will tell you how many magapixels they captured it with. I think you will find most or generous in offering info. When you have settled on several, then consider your secondary uses for the camera. THEN, you might drop by again and ask if anyone can offer any comments about the ones you have narrowed it down to. Hope this helps. BTW, my camera is rated at 2.1. I don't do texturing. And I don't do professional work. Accordingly, I rarely use the top setting and still get satisfactory results. By satisfactory, I mean I see individual hairs in eyelashes, eyebrows, etc. when I take a picture of a person from the waist up. That's good enough for me.
