Yeah, lens flares were (loosely) a product of older lenses, then new lenses were made to (mostly) eliminate lens flare, but then it was seen as something cool/artistic to have in your shot, so now just pop on a filter to your camera, and you'll have all the flare you can eat, lol. The Project Dogwaffle lens flare plugin is great because of its ability to be customized to such a great degree. You can build your flare however you want. It reminded me of an expensive plugin called Knoll Light Factory. I like the lens flare, but then more than not, I'm trying to make renders emulate photos. AS
