I assume this is WWII or Korea vintage, the helmet looks too small, back then there was actually a inside helmet "helmet liner" and outside one "steel pot". There should be a web belt to hold the stuff around the waist (about 3" wide) and the canteen looks a little small, should be worn in the back, too. I have no idea where Thompson guys carried extra ammo, incidently, they were long gone by the time I was in the Army, but I bet they had some kind of long ammo pouch. Other than that it looks great, the boots look especially nice!
