Subject: Is it just me?

I am just monitoring the progress of the P5 patches... I installed a few of the betas, but I have decided to stop until I see enough stability..... that being said, I am wondering if others have stopped also. I ask this because even though the "law of 2" problem was calimed to be fixed, even recent renders look slightly blurred or out of focus. Review some recent posts and look closely. Its like everything renders slightly (very slightly) out of focus.

I stopped installing the betas. In fact, I stopped using Poser 5 at all, but for different reasons. (Well, there were all of those pesky C exceptions, but that is another issue ). I decided I didn't really like the hair, and had no real use for the other rooms either. I realized that Poser 5 is more program than I really need I guess, and don't have time for the learning curve right now. I enjoy Poser 4 and will continue to use that as long as I can. I am also hoping that the new Daz program will be more user friendly than Poser 5. :) Lots of folks seem to really love Poser 5 though. I realize that I am probably in the minority.

I have the new patch SR2.1 installed and it's running great and faster. Out of focas? doesn't seem out of focus to me, it does render a little softer the P4. But I remember when they asked every body here what they wanted to see in Poser 5. Most wanted a better render engine then P4, that P4 rendered to hard. By hard it was ment the edges are to hard and really needed to be soften. That maybe what seems off to you.

I'm only up to SR2. Not sure if I want to risk the others yet since the patches are what started my problems.

Ya can't expect an entirely new render engine to look exactly the same. Since they fixed the Power of 2 thing I've seen a number of P5 renders with highly detailed textures that looked great.

Poser 5 has much better antialiasing, but you can turn it down if the renders are too soft for your tastes.

Tomsde ( ) posted Tue, 10 December 2002 at 3:16 PM

How is the anti-aliasing accessed in the rendering window?

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Tue, 10 December 2002 at 3:37 PM

In the Firefly render options panel, antialiasing strength is determined mainly by the "Pixels Samples" and "Post Filter Size" sliders. Lower values result in less antialiasing. The "Use Texture Filtering" option also has an effect on image maps (textures, bump maps, etc.). Given its enormous drain on resources, it's usually best to leave it off.
