Thanks for the great link! Yeah, I did get the smartgun - thanks again! So, have you already done some artwork featuring the Aliens universe? Love to see it. Jack

Another up and coming low priced 3d creation software package you might look at is Curvy 3d. You can download a demo of it, but per usual you cannot post anything you create in the demo or you voilate the demo agreement. If you like it enough, however, it's currently only $85.00 USD. I've included the site link here.Thread: Gallery images that didn't get expected hits? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

You know, I've always been kinda sad that this image never got many comments/hits. It was my first hand painted hair (with a mouse - I now have a Wacom but I still haven't actually painted hair with it, go figure). I also worked pretty hard on the background in Photoshop, of which I was possibly inordinately proud. :) JackThread: Spectacular free Japanese castle model (and other goodies) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thread: corrupt PZ3 file? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
PZ3's can be hand-edited, right? If not, ignore my post and chalk me up to 'less than properly educated'. If you can open them in a text editor, you might try comparing the corrupt files to known good file inside the text editor; perhaps you may find a few offending lines that allow you at least open it to see your characters. Good Luck! Jack

I too am eternally grateful for the freestuff available here and elsewhere. I thought I would give a valid alternative to the fake-email address thing. I use what I call a 'spam address' for anything that requires my registration. It's perfectly valid and I continually check it (albeit with a lower frequency then my regular email). It has no filters on it and continually fills with junk which I skim and delete every week or so. I use this email when dealing on the net in just the situations we are all talking about here, and only give my 'real' one to friends and family. Just my two cents. Jack

Hey, Cooler! Awesome job finding that - I've been looking for an airbrush model for a long time, and in a pinch I suppose I could use this. But do you have any airbrush models lying around by chance? Or anyone? thanks, Jack
Thread: Render Help with Kozaburo's Long Hair Evolution | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I second SamTherapy's suggestion. I've seen this before with other hair, though, but only in C4D. One other idea is to check the map size on your shadow maps. If it's low (and by looking at the rest of your pic, it doesn't seem low) you'll get weird effects through transparency (looks like dirt/banding). Finally, I'm not familiar with the model itself, but if it's like other hair there will be a material zone called "skull cap" or something. Not only do you need to check that it's transparency is 100%, but you also have to make sure no color has been applied to the skull cap material, other than white. Please somebody speak up if I'm totally off base! Hope this helps, Jack

You know, I wonder what this would look like if you use the free cave that's in the freestuff as a setting/background. That way you would have some interesting lighting effects on the walls, plus be able to DOF pretty far back. Jack

Figures? As in traditional 'gi' or 'dobach' - or poses? You can find both in the marketplace here, although of course it won't be free. :) Jack
Thread: OT - For all you Alien Fans - Papercraft models! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
That's a great idea HullBreach, and i was just getting around to thinking 'what can I use that will be better than paper and last longer' - but the problem is transfering the art to the sheeting, not so much finding it or folding it. The support needs to be able to go through a color printer, and I don't know if I can find a place that'll print on plastic sheeting. Jack
Thread: Win Xp "Tweaks " for poser 4.03 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You know, I had the exact same problem on XP home the other day. I had been rendering without fail for a long while, but then all of a sudden I could render anything to a seperate windows, no matter what size. I read the CL posts about this issue, and they suggested setting a fixed size for the swap disk, instead of letting Windows mess with it. I have a relatively large hard drive, but what I did was actually reduce the swap file in size from what Windows had set it, and it totally did the trick. I can render any size now up to the max of 4096X4096, with no other programs needed. I have 3/4 gig of RAM. Jack
