Marvelous Designer uses a triangular mesh and perhaps one with rectangles now as well. You want the rectangles. In the past people spent $800 for Zbrush so they could shrink wrap the items and get the item made out of rectangles. Blender does it, not as well but it will try and it is free if MD bungles it. I am not sure what Daz Studio does if you tell it to subdivide a triangular mesh.
Thread: hi this is a daz studio ? need help with stitches please please can someo | Forum: DAZ|Studio
In the merchant resource section there are stitches you can add in photoshop to the texture. There are photoshop brushes that let you paint stitching onto the model's UV maps. I suppose how you unwrap the object for UV mapping would be important so You can paint your stitches and line them up. There are Stitch kits and a tutorial on how to make the stitches look real so they are not just colored dash but have dodge and burn to add depth of shadows and such. So yeah, I'm sending you to the marketplace. The products might be dated, the method might be dated, its the only one I know of. Perhaps Marvelous Designer does this, but I can't afford it so I wouldn't know.
Thread: Help! Iray Shaders Don't Work Well with Custom Made objects | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Could it be subdivide settings? Check the bump strength in the surface panel, Displacement settings I think are in there too, you could try turning them up. You might want to see if two or four subdivides allow for the pattern to show up. When I do raised textured shaders, if I remember right I turn up the subdivides so my displacement maps can bend the top layer of the object and that sounds like the problem here. Daz may not see how to bend larger polys without using the subdivide settings. I try not to up it more than 4 subdivides, I have tried more, like 6 but it makes my computer work too hard. I do it in the surface panel, but I think you can edit the subdive on the model but I know very little about modeling so I haven't used that edit geometery setting.

I have about given up on getting DeeDee not to be mouthy. I just told my husband she is a pitbull, if you are not bleeding, she had no intention of hurting you, she is just playing. I pointed out there is never a scratch on anyone. She is trying to initiate play or just claim you by holding your hand with her mouth. If I had guests over, or planned to take her to the doggy park and introduce her to strangers, it would be a problem. I am private and reclusive. The select few who visit are not gonna flip out because I have a mouthy puppy or dog.
Thread: Rescue Puppy, Gonna be busy. | Forum: The Break Room
Well, its been going good. I keep dry puppy food out all the time and Gracy and DeeDee can even eat out of the same bowl. She put on some nice weight and her back legs are filling out a little. She kinda looks like she's gonna be a mini-pit. Not a lot of demand for stunted pit-bulls I would imagine. I fed a lot of eggs and hotdogs at first but have tapered that off as she is looking much better. I keep telling myself she could still grow but so far she is only filling out and her head and jaws remain small and delicate looking for a pit. We are working on her being calm outside and not coming inside yet. She went after the cat one too many times. She tries to get inside, but when she does she runs and checks every place one might have left a morsel of food, jumping up on things to do so. Eventually I'll work on her indoor manners but for now I go sit with her in the heat. She is learning we don't like mouthy pits and she is attempting to nibble on hands less. She doesn't bite, but she likes to hold your hand in her mouth. That's what I mean when I say mouthy. Its not aggressive on her part but people tend to be harder on pits about it. Frankly it can freak people out when a pit tries to hold their hand between her teeth. So I am working on eliminating the behavior.

Thanks. Its not too hard to feed Gracy out of sight sometimes. She let me give Gracy a treat of a hotdog when I gave her one without too much fuss. I showed her a hand gesture two or three times then pushed her out of my chair on the porch yesterday. This morning when I went out to check the bowls and spend time with them DeeDee hopped into my chair and was waiting with a grin. I made the hand gesture and she hopped right down and looked so pretty doing it. She wanted to show me she had learned her trick. She is a smart girl and eager to please. She's going to be a fine pet in no time. No one has taken the time to teach her but she is super smart, my job with her is going to be easier for it. She was guarding the porch and I had to call Gracy to approach the porch and get her treat later in the day. Gracy is giving her space and DeeDee is watching Gracy and getting ideas about the kind of calm behavior I like and reward. The food issues may stay but she has a lot of potential never the less.
Thread: What it is you like/love about Renderosity? | Forum: The Break Room
Texture resources are my favorites. You can find needful things that are missing from other sites. The people are great too. Other sites you post something to the gallery and no one says a thing unless you have been working the Gallery like a job. So that someone, anyone takes the time to comment is priceless.

Well, Thanks, now I can't get this topic out of my head. Do you think it's easy to make the High Quality Poser/Daz Studio Cheese for all those 3dMax TurboSquid spoiled little rich kids with a $140,000 in student loans for their art degree to point to justify the high prices they stick on their crapola???? I got news for ya, its not!!!! Those no talent snot nosed brats need good, high quality, animated Cheese to make its way around the internet making people's eyeballs bleed in order con suckers into paying them to model, you guessed it, a stupendous mini skirt, one in a million (and no, I'm not kidding, there are a million just like it, half are freebies....). Without these cheese factories, loans don't get paid folks. Its grand, charitable work these guys are doing. Stop whining about them making Poser and Daz look bad or that we can't get any respect etc. Just looking at this guy's shop has given me ideas for numerous works of cheesy goodness I wish I had the stones and talent and expertise to pull off. Lucky for everyone I am sporting beginner level skills and will have to shelf these ideas and work on making Iray Fabric Shaders. But I support this guy's efforts at promoting Cheesy Goodness and elevating the art-form to new heights. So get the stick out of your behinds and EMBRACE THE CHEESY GOODNESS!!!!!

I don't think this is merely a bad artist trying and not getting it. The characters are morphed to used as more of a carยทiยทcaยทture หkerikษCHษr,หkerikษหCHoอor/ noun noun: caricature; plural noun: caricatures
1.
a picture, description, or imitation of a person or thing in which certain striking characteristics are exaggerated in order to create a comic or grotesque effect.
"a caricature of Jimmy Durante"
synonyms: cartoon, parody, satire, lampoon, burlesque;
You are right that the faces are not realistic, but this is the charm of the products. They are for artists who are doing work for fun and not taking themselves too seriously.

Daz Platinum Club is great for getting older V4 stuff. I went with G3F and some add-on products like Wear them All and Sickleyeild's SY Ultra Templates for Genesis 3 And G3F can wear all my V4 stuff. Sickleyeild has a tutorial for fitting shoes like heels over at deviant art and I think she did a youtube video so I can manually fit V4 shoes to Genesis 3 Female. The first thing to buy at Daz is a membership. Being a member here and Daz really does take this hobby from being too pricey to affordable.
Thread: Daz Shaders | Forum: DAZ|Studio
I tried to look into that and got very lost. There was a tutorial or manual over at the Nvidia site. I really just wanted to use my old seamless textures so I am going the cheesy route of loading someone else's fabric shader and changing the textures and saving when I am done adjusting things like the displacement.
Thread: I tried to make a thread... | Forum: The Break Room
Well, I am actually making shaders from the older blackwidow textures. I am lightening them up so I change the color inside iray. I know its a monochromatic and building it is boring me to death. Not all the textures worked out but I have found some really cool textures that did make great shaders. So yeah I was drooling over some of the newer shader sets in the merchant resource section. I need the wood floors and ceramic tiles but I want the florals.... I continue to peek at the sales even though I am not suppose to buy anything for a month. It was suppose to be for monthS but my husband bought a car and I got a tiny reprieve, third time this year I've needed one for blowing my budget. Finally we have someone hired and and I get to stay home more. We shall see if that really happens.

Yeah. I went back and looked around and there are a lot products for G3F I don't have yet. Getting the clothing on her is all I am worried about.
My sister decided she is into collecting coffee mugs. She then tried to talk me into designing a collection of coffee mugs for Society 6. I wanted to strangle her. I don't have cute fairy stuff or LadyLittleFox's characters or stuff to make to cute little coffee mugs. I have thought about making cute fairy t-shirts designs. But doing a collection takes and yes money. I don't think its a great investment. I like making real looking characters, or building alien landscapes and creepy characters. That doesn't play well on t-shirts or coffee mugs. Or even walls really. But it makes me happy. I am not sold on making cute fairies for fun, even though it might be a lot of fun. I like them but I am not sure I could pull off all the needed special effects and dramatic lighting and serious postwork to create something really special for sale. There are so many great artists doing an unreal job with that already. But I am still adding DM's fairy stuff to my wishlist....Maybe someday I'll work on it.

I have a mild form of autism. I can understand micro-expressions okay, but not those big (fake) Macro-expressions. All I see is some actor screwing up their face. What do I think the actor is feeling? I see it but I don't have a clue what the actor is pretending to feel. I know my characters aren't that expressive usually. I was mad when I did "Come To Mama" and that's the most expression I have ever used. I like the android look, dead dolly eyes and all. Sticking with G3F.
Thread: I tried to make a thread... | Forum: The Break Room
I went back to Daz the other day and V8/genesis 8 was out. I invested a lot to make G3 flexable. We're talking morphs and Skin Builder and WearThemAll eye texture collections. I still have sets on my wishlist here for G3F. I waited so long for skinbuilder to come out and it seemed like I just got it and felt pretty good about making characters with G3F. I was sad because now everyone is going to be selling V8 Gen8 stuff and G3F won't get much new content. Lots of people posted they were sad G3F's run was over already. But everyone was saying how many people ran out and bought V8 and she outsold V7 etc. Still, I invested in G3F and I think I should be using her for the next two years. Daz may come out with a new Victoria model every two years but my finances won't let me deck out a character every two years. I am sick of being in a building phase with a model. Genesis one and Genesis 2 I never was able to deck out before Genesis 3 was out. I was only able to deck her out by ignoring the G3M entirely. I love my Kia, there is a new Kia Soul coming out every year, but that doesn't mean I can run out buy a new one every year. I have decided to stick with G3F for as long as possible and maybe never buy a model that isn't two years old yet. I don't make money from this hobby so I can feel free to be as old and out of date as I want to be. My favorite render was a V4 one. Its not like I'll be a better artist with a new model. I buy and use V4 clothes and stuff all the time. I am glad the community is maybe growing and they sold a lot of V8's, but for my peace of mind I am not climbing on that bandwagon, I can't sign up collecting stuff for another character until I really have a chance to wear out the one I already have.
