Quote - I have decided not to purchase G2/V6 because I do not want to buy into that 10-new-base-figures-every-year thing DAZ pushes. Why would DS users now want to get involved with this?
I'm on of those who started with V2 in Poser4. The interface drove me nuts even after a few years of use. When DS came out the interface problems were solved for me. I embraced the DS transitions and spent the $$$. Though many of the changes at DAZ eventually frustrated me to no end I stuck with DS (by then Poser was to expensive for me). Then when Genisis support shifted so quickly to GF2. That was enough. I waited with the rest of you for Dawn's release and started buying @ all of the 4 stores directly involved.
Now I'm at a point where I'm questioning my decision. Do I love Dawn? Yes. I have no complaints with Dawn or her morphs. The problem I'm having is that the vast majority of the Dawn products to date do not have a DS version or at the least materials. I see beautiful, characters, clothing, eyes, poses, makeup, hair etc. for Poser every morning when I check the stores. I admit I'm getting more and more frustrated for the lack of DS support by many merchants. I want Dawn to be supported as well for us DS users as it is for Poser users. I don't want to go to GF2. But we need more DS support.
If we were getting this kind of support my question would be "Why wouldn't a DS user want to get involved with this (Dawn)."

Quote - Okay, why did you have to have a discussion about goth style while I was asleep? LOL
I dated a goth guy back then and I dealt with a lot of such people. What you're describing is mostly what they'd call "poseurs": those who pretend to be goths just for show.
There's goth lifestyle, goth fashion, goth music, goth art etc. People can choose to follow just one, or all:
The lifestyle is about respecting death and enjoying life. Carpe Noctem, he thaught me, enjoy the night. Some are introspecting and mysterious, enjoying to read (think Byron) and to philosophy about what we're to become, others like to simply enjoy. Pleasure is a goal, but not to be forcefully taken: they tend to be respectful towards others. If you see someone who claims to be a goth but wrecks a cemetery, he's a poseur, disrespecting death. If you see someone who's sad about really sad things, ok, but someone who's sad about idiotic things like my nail just got broken, he's most likely emo, those love to claim they're goths.
Goth fashion can be quite variable. There's renaissance goth (think classy vampire fashion!), fetish goth (corsets, latex and cuffs oh my!), cyber goth (decadent and technologic combined)... The thing you're saying about being as white as it gets and with black all over? Yep, most often a poseur thing.
Goth music's been mentioned, but I add to that: there's things like doom metal, which I love (like Haggard which is a basically orchestra band and sings of things like condemning the Inquisition and such), and new age (which I also love and is soft and lyrical and romantic and full of magic).
Goth art is an ode to where life meets death, it can be from a maiden's mourning over the death of her lover, to the grotesque of fetishing over horror.
Nothing wrong with "goth makeup" for Poser/DS being poseurish stuff, but if you wanna go actual goth, you don't need to limit yourself so much, be creative. Give me a moment, I'm gonna pull some references :)
EXCELLANT DISCRIPTION

Quote - Goth:
well it does go a way bit beyond being a track mark junkie, I have known a few jocks that fit that description and had no relevence with gothic subcultures. So that stereotype is at best an insult.
Just think beauty within the Dark. Not afraid to delve in the shadows...
If you really want to delve into goth go beyond the Manson and the Hot Topic crowd.
There is a goth magazine called Propaganda, it is well done
As for goth bands, classics such as The Cure, Depeche Mode, Echo and The Bunnymen, Christian Death, Rosetta Stone, Fields Of The Neiphilim, Bauhaus, Switchblade Symphony, Razed In Black, Leatherstrip, Sisters Of Mercy, ... just to name a few...
However if you wish to delve deeper into subculture of goth and metal I would suggest: Satyricon, Hecate Enthroned, Dark Funeral, Dissection, Burzum, Ancient, Marduk, Emperor, Naglfar & Gorgoroth...
On the electronica/industrial gothic side:
KMFDM, Thrill Kill Kult (Older), VNV Nation, Assemblage 23, Psyclon 9, Ministry, Mortiis, Genitorturers, Unter Null, & Eisenfunk...
TYPE O NEGATIVE is also another huge goth influence circa '93 with Bloody Kisses.
Thank you :) That's GOTH. Not the sterio type from above

Quote - Guardian_Angel_671,
Export Dawn as obj. Use the default settings except for one thing, SubDivision Level must be 0.
After the modifications import (Edit/Object)Morph Loader Pro, Click "Choose morph files" and pick up your obj. If everything goes well you will see "Created morph successfully".
Go to the Parameters tab and find your new morph. (Click all and use the search box)
Then click the little gear icon in the top right corner and choose Parameter Settings. Change type Modifier/Shape to Modifier/clone. Done.
Tried this metheod and where it should say "Created morph successfully" it says "Geometery did not match. Failed to create morp" Any idea what I may have missed?

That's about the length of my hand when I have the heel of it at my chin. I just checked.

Don't be so sure about us DS users. Even us long timers. A good chunk of us aren't to happy with DAZ's roll out with GF2 and don't plan on courting her at all. I embrace the "Dawn of a new day" and would rather put my $$$ on her. :)
I agree that this will be more of a poser figure, DAZ users are confused right now, but then DAZ did that, there will be as yourself some who will use her in DAZ but Poser users have been waiting on this figure a long time, as the last one was V4 which is why V4 still has so much suport. Some will say there are other figures but of them only Michell has any suport.
Confused????? No PISSED !! :)
