I just got it Jonathan a few moments ago. I just got some scouting help from a trusted member here so I'll let you know who I'll be moving ahead with. The main thing I want to iterate is this, I'm really looking for someone who can be bound by law and contract. This may rule out people from some countries. I'm sorry it has to be that way. I have larger plans for my work and anyone I take into the loop I need to have under a contract that can be enforced. As a U.S. citizen, the means that people from the U.S. are higher on my list as the internet is not a safe place and work is stolen everyday by wolves in sheeps clothing. This also means the exchange of telephone numbers so that I can reach you by voice if need be. Right now, I just want to do a single character and see how it goes. It'll be brokered here at rosity only because I want to ease into this and not nail myself down to anything yet. Basically it's a testing phase and if things don't work out between me and whom ever I choose, perhaps I can partner myself with someone else or just back away from the entire thing with little loss in time and effort. As soon as my requested scouting help gives me a heads up on who's who, then we can move to the next step.

I really don't mind sharing it. That's what I made it for, I just don't like it when people do things that defy the goodwill and intent that I started it with. If you have it, by all means share it, but please give credit to the creator. I think that's fair.

Sorry guys but I did not post the hydralisk for download. I took it off the Lightwave download area just under a year ago. There is a 3rd party out there sabotaging the process. It's one of the reasons why I don't post freestuff anymore. This is about the 5th time it's happened on three different sites. I wish there was a way to clear this mess up but once it's on the internet it's damn near impossible to track. If you see any downloads of that hydralisk model, know that I'm not the one hosting it so be on guard because I hate ads and none of my downloads had any ads or redirects to other urls. Very sorry to hear what's going on. :(

Well my app is the same as Travisb's Lightwave. I use a wide variety of modelling processes depending on my needs. They step from primative, to vertex and even rail modelling. My design is pretty modular. I'll model the eye then build a head around it. Then sometimes I model the chest the connect it to the neck or I may even model the chest, or the arm, or the leg or the entire torso a month prior, undecided on on the head. I may do everything but the arms and paste another set of arms I created for another model on them. Like I said, I'm pretty modular with the way I do things. Always open ended and always dynamic. Of late I have not been modelling complete characters. I did recently finish a character which is the apex of my skills as an organic modeller but she is being kept secret for a big occasion. I chose lightwave because, well it's simply awesome. Great modeller with a great host of shaders pre-packaged and otherwise. Of late I have been cel-shading. That seems to be the direction that my career is heading much to my satisfaction. I have been experimenting with unreal shader with stunning results.

We could definitely use you in the Lightwave forum because we get a great many questions about poser and most people like myself don't know how to answer them.

Well here is my two pence. For my style of creation Lightwave is my weapon of choice. 1st, what you get out of the box is incredible. Everything you need including some 3rd party plugs are on the CD. 2nd, Very widely used app in the film industry. I could look at Newtek's website and find out what it was being used with. 3rd, Incredible community. Lightwave has a massive community. 4th, The modelling in Lightwave is top notch. Rail/Spline modelling, metaball, vertex, primative, it can all be done and I have tried them all with different results. 5th, Expressions have become a daily routine for me an animation. Primary and secondary motion can be achived with great ease using expressions. In two words and a number, I can make a hellicopter's rotor blade turn how I want it without a single keyframe. 6th. Lscript Commander. Possibly the best addition to lightwave outside of weight maps and endomorphs. The ability to turn commands into workable scripts is a massive time saver. 7th, Distributed Rendering. I can go out and buy a simple cheesy refurbished system for $300 bucks and create a render garden at no extra cost to software. 8th, Well look at the images above. Some are from my short film and others are from still shots. Only 5 years ago I could not even imagine myself making cartoons and such but now, I work on the dream everyday and it has become more tangible since I got Lightwave. All other apps are good but for my personal style, it's lightwave all the way.

I was thinking the same thing Slynky. I think they are talking more about a gallery than a forum. Either way, it can also work just like the downloads section by linking but I don't really know how much more involved it needs to be since I have never ran and service like Rosity.

{I'd personally prefer the animation forum to be more about the art of animation and less about the software.} I agree with this 100%. There is already a modeling gallery which works very well. People from Lightwave, Rhino to Wings can come there and exchange modelling ideas without being caught in software politics. The same goes for character designers. People from Poser to Maya drop images there because most know that it is more about concept than software. Much of animation is pretty much the same across the board. The toolsets used are the only difference but the mathematics are all the same. If you can linear edit in Poser & Bryce then you can pretty much do it in Lightwave. Things like spline, brezier, linear and stepped are things most of us understand across a plethora of software titles so information should be able to be exchanged across the lines of software with the minimum of effort.

I remember bringing this up about a year ago here at renderosity but it seemed to have been forgotten. I wasn't the first to bring it up either. It seems that it has been brought up several times. I'm still all for the idea. As said, it can work just like the downloads section by linking. I mean, we already have the Director's Cut forum which is highly appropriate for this type of gallery.
