WOW....ROUND 2.....DING DING <<boxing reference. I didn't expect this many posts. LOL In defense of myself, and my novice abilities thus far, I have tried the fir trees effect in the editor, but I agree with Pete, the ydon't look very realistic. I know that the approach that I am trying will cause HUGE render times....ask Gebe about the last pic I uploaded..LOL. I just really would like to see if there is another way to randomly seed terrains. JD's idea is a good one, and I'll try that. I see the PROS in BOTH types, alpha and scatter, I just like to make things difficult I think. Thanks ALL, Akenaton

Cool. I guess the animated materials should be off limits for this kind of picture then. I spent an hour or so on the water before, but again I was using he animated polluted water. I'll have to work from the other materials then.

Thanks Guitta! That is amazing. My lack of experience is showing through in a huge way. That is beautiful now!! I can't wait to see it on my home PC. How long did it take to render?

OUCH, that is a pretty vicious anti-alias time. Wonder why it is doing that? I am anxious to hear what you do to it. I am sure that this will be a learning experiemnce for me. THANK YOU for taking the time to help me on this. I am sure that you have a LOT of other stuff that demands your time too, so I really appreciate it. Thanks, Akenaton

I'll have to try the milk out then. As a matter of fact, I think that I HAD the water set to milk, but then schose the animated polluted water for the falls. I tweaked the bump maps and did the same to the watewr at the bottom of the falls....which is a terrain. I HAD some mist on the original, but the misty/rainy texture that I used was KILLING the render times too. I double checked the render by hitting esc to stop the render, and most of the time, it was frozen. So I don't think that it was rendering anymore. I KNOW that i hae ample resources to do this, just don't know why it keeps tripping out. I think that I might install a 98se on a different drive, and run only vue on that OS. Just to see if it helps with the rendering and resources. SHOULD help a little I think, and that way I'll have a way to work without other garbage in the beackground. Probably be beter that way.
Thread: Is there a way to import Poser 5 scenes in Vue 4?? | Forum: Vue
I have both also. I tried pulling in from poser 4 AND 5, but now vue just says that it cannot read the file. I have tried saving as PZ3 and PZZ to no avail. Anybody have any ideas? Yes, I tried reinstalling Vue also. THanks. Akenaton

Hell man, use search and destroy to kill all of the adware/spyware that is hidden in your registry/program files. It is there...trust me. One you do that your net send ads will disappear. Also run tweakXP...they have a pretty damn good popup blocker in their software. Thanks, Akenaton

GREAT idea Gebe! I see why you are the moderator now. I wouldn't have thought of that...LOL And I am a computer "expert" for my company. LOL I'll do JUST that when I get back home.

Gebe, I tried to email it to you this morning before I left for work. I had to RAR it, and even then it was still 6MB. The origianl scene, unzipped, was 39MB!! I didn't receive it here at work, where we don't have an email file size restriction, and am HOPING that you were able to get it. If not, please let me know what I can do to get it to you. I'd really like to see what is going on, and to see if you have probelms rendering it too. Thank you Gebe, Akenaton

COOL! Thank's Gebe. I'll have to try that. I've used that on lights before but not on a sun. Proably why I have had no luck with the rays before..LOL. How late do you stay connected to the site Gebe? It may be a little later in the evening when I can upload. You'll see it though. Thanks!

So you think that I should put a spot light out of view, but lighting the dark spot? Did I understand you correctly? Or should I use a different lkind of light? ALSO, how in the world do people get the light rays to show up? That is what I wanted for this scene originally.

BTW Gebe, the dark stuff in the front comes from the shadow of the mountain. The sun is just coming over the top and hasn't hit that angle yet.

I'll have to check Yves. I'll post from home what I find though. I think that I tested the render speed difference once i booted my new PC up. I rendered the remembering home pic from my gallery. It only took about 1/4 of the time to render than it did with my other PC. SO, I think that it is picture specific. He Gebe, can I upload the file to this forum?? Or do you think that it'd be too big?
