"the current vue 4 pro python implementation is borked"... and they are very slow to fix python problems. I have an issue open with e-on since last november. They keep saying it will be fixed but it never gets done. e-on used to be quick for this kind of stuff but now they seem to concentrate on new versions (vue5) instead of fixing bugs in existing versions.
This is not very serious for a "pro" product

Sorry Lynn,
But this is not the answer I was hoping for. I was expecting something like "I will personnlly look into this..."
The web support gives no feedback to customers. I add something to the thread they answer something, that's it. We need more, we need to see commitment, dates, especially for an issue 6 months old. I found a few bugs in Vue2 and Vue3 and back then I was getting an update DAYS later - I was very impressed. But now I guess E-On is getting too big...too bad

I am currently doing some DVD tests. NTSC DVDs are 720x480 at 30fps. I think 24fps is also supported.
I like the 16/9 format. I made this screen test that shows in front of the movie for about 10 seconds, and I only made 2 DVDs so far:
DVD1: 5 seconds scene in 3 different resolutions: 720x480, 720x440, 720x400. The last 2 are padded with black borders to make them 480 high. 30fps.
Result: 1) 30fps is very smooth 2) My DVD/TV don't show the first 2 pairs of black squares and the numbers 720 don't show. Actual visible horizontal resolution is only about 640, I don't understand why. 3) TV pixels are not square: The circle on the test screen look like an oval. Vue has an option for rectangular pixels but I see no difference in the results.
DVD2: 640x400 resized in PSP to 640x356, then padded with black borders to 720x480. 24 fps.
result: 1) 24fps not good. Every 5th frame is duplicated to bring the film at 30fps and it's not smooth. But this may be caused by NeoDVDPlus that I use to create the DVD. It's a simple program that came with the DVD burner with no options for fps. 2) I had a bit of distortion on the vertical edges of the screen: 640 is a bit tight. 3) The circle is not perfect but almost 4) The resulting image is very close to be 16/9
Next test: 660x400 resized to 660x360, 30fps. Should be able to do it in a few days.
So basically, it's trial and error...

Thanks Evo, but it looks like Grouper will do only one file at a time. Is there a way to do it for many OBJ files together?

Just tried and got the same problem with Windows ME. Can render one PICT but not an animation. I normally render animations as .bmp or .jpg at 100% quality with no problem. Gilbert
Thread: walking in high heals... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi, I find that the easiest way to fix the high heel problem when walking is to move the curve in the Animation Palette. Use the Bend dial on the first frame to set the foot right to see how many degrees it must be bent, normally it is around 30 degrees. Set it back to what it was. Then in Animation palette, follow these steps: 1-Select the foot 2-Select the Bend curve 3-Select the complete animation: make sure you see it all by fully extending the bottom bar. Then click anywhere in the graph, and drag the mouse to, say the right end of the graph. This will highlight that portion. Then shift-click anywhere in the highlighted area and drag the mouse all the way to the left - the whole graph is highlighted/ 3-Move the Bend curve up by the number of degrees required. For this, you CTRL-click (the cursor then changes to 2 vertical bars) and drag the whole graph up or down. If your character is wearing boots, it is a lot easier if you hide the feet and toes. Hi, A few days ago I mentionned I was testing a process to import Poser animations in Vue using a freeware program called Phantom. I finally got it to work fairly well. It helps to have a bit of programming background but if you are interested, I could try to write a tutorial including sample scripts. You can see the avi at the following link: http://pages.infinit.net/gildid/yoko.avi GilbertThread: Poser animations in Vue | Forum: Vue

Hi Chris, I downloaded the demo, but it does not allow you to play with the textures, wich is an important feature to drop out of the demo I think. Then I found a nice freeware program used for automating Windows called Phantom. I started playing with it with some success. You can see a first test I did at the following link. In this scene, Yoko is walking on place and I still have to figure out how to have the characters move correctly inside the scene. If I succeed, I could write write a turorial on how to do it. It's the same process as described by audity, but 1) it's free, 2) you have total control over the materials 3) It works (I think) but it's a bit akwardGilbert
Thread: A new Wings model and a question. | Forum: Vue
Hi Hellborn, Very nice model. You can have some nice effect without using a light by using a glowing material (Vue4) instead of using a light. You can also increase the diffuse, ambiant and luminous settings in the effect tab of the material editor. I would definitely be interested in a Wings tutorial. This has to be the easiest modeler I have seen. Gilbertdid

I forgot to mention that the colors must be remapped in Vue as the imported colors would definitely look bad, but using the Write Color option on the export makes it easier because you then get all the original materials in the Material Summary in Vue right from the beginning. Gilbert

Thread: Unbreakable light | Forum: Vue
Hi hein, If I remember correctly my physics classes from a long long time ago, the rainbow effect is caused by the fact that the refraction index of a transparent material differs for the different wave lengths of the light beam. In the material editor in Vue, each material is assigned only one refraction index where you would need one for blue light, one for red light etc. And Cheers is right, it would probably take e-ons to render. Vue seems to handle the light in the rock better because the light hits the rock a different angles and diffracts the light at different angles but always using the same index. But hey, it would still be a nice feature.
