Thread: P8: V4 will not load into library | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I run Poser 8 on Win 7 with no issues, but most install exe's need to be run in compatibility mode to install correctly.
In compatibility mode Win 7 may tell you that the program did not install correctly and give you the option to reinstall using the recommended settings. Choose that option and it should reinstall correctly for you.
It's a rightious pain in the rear, but I have learned to put up with it and have accepted that almost all "old" installers will need to be run twice.
The most common problem I encounter is incomplete installations - missing geometries, buggered texture files etc.

Very cool website! Thanks for sharing that with us. Pretty interesting to see a different perspective on the old cultures.

^ Nice, thanks for that sourceforge link. I never thought to look there for Blender stuff.

In case I missed it in the gallery .....
"Wonderful art my dear special friend. Excellent done! ******* "
Seriously, I'm just pissed to have spent too much money on Mike 3 & 4. I should have been more patient.
Not a bad price actually :-)
Thread: Am I Just Being Overly Sensitive Here? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Clear licensing conditions included with the prop would go a long way to help avoiding threads like this. Most I have found have been pretty good.
I have a simple attitude ... if I can abide the the terms I will use it. If not, I find something else or attempt to create my own facimile. It may even require me to rethink the project into something I can manage.
Definitely not worth stressing about.
Just my humble .02 :-)
Thread: do you think Anastasia will breath new life into the Galleries? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Content Advisory! This message contains profanity
Sadly, as has been lamented many times, the gallery has turned into a supository of poorly lit, pasty, glowing, Barbie wannabes.
Some members are carpet bombing poor quality shite trying to rise up in the ranks. It's a little embarrasing actually. Popularity has nothing to do with art.
The few artists I really like continue to post excellent work, but there is only a small handful - and they really shine compared to most.
I think that rendering shite on a shingle at this point would breath new life into the gallery, and on that note, I am off to build a piece of shite and a shingle - I may put a really hot female character in there - mostly nude with huge jugs - so it doesn't get overlooked :-P
Ha ha ha, whatever floats your boat I guess ...
** For the record I do not consider myself to be any better than most, but I do get inspired by those who actually know where the "make art" button is.
Thread: nVidea vs AMD settled.. the hard way but good results.. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Good information. I have used Saphires for graphic design with no issues, but am currently running a generic onboard AMD card and have some of the issues you mentioned with Poser and Blender - only occasionally, but enough to screw up a render or two. Where I notice the lack of power most is when using After Effects - it can really lag when rendering motion graphics.
Thread: Poser 7 Lagging horribly bad, any ideas on how to repair this? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
^ I figured it would be something like that - bloody times tables :-D
I have not really dug into it, but have learned to get everything in position for final render before I lock in the hairy eyeball - or at least get in the ball park :-)
Thread: Poser 7 Lagging horribly bad, any ideas on how to repair this? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
To the OP: by any chance do you have a figure anywhere in the scene that points at the main camera? (as in eyes looking at you).
The reason I ask is that I run Poser 8 (I know you run 7) and the only time it seems to hop around is when I have a figure's eyes pointed at the main camera. In that condition it lags every time, even for a single figure.
Thread: * Free Model * | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thank you very much for the download! If Poser doesn't like it then Blender certainly will :-). You do some excellent work.
Thread: A newbie reading your forum | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
One thing new users want to watch out for is what I call "this for that" syndrome.
Read the editorials carefully before you make any purchases and make sure you uderstand exactly what you are getting and what it is meant for.
For every outfit, model, or prop that comes out, there will be a slew of texture options released in short order for it. So, if you see hair you really like for example, make sure it is not a texture pack for an orignal hair figure you have to buy first.
I know that's not Poser operations specific, but it's gonna come up sooner or later.
As far as using Poser for rendering, learn the material room and the how the lighting works and it will increase the quality of your renders by a huge amount.
I could go on all day, but one other thing to make note of is that since you are coming from Blender and no doubt have it in your mind to make your own Poser Props, Poser requires certain "irregularities" to be optimized correctly before it will play well with the object. I have made this mistake a few times and had a really nice model in Blender only to have it explode or do something unexpected in Poser. Watch out for the triangles ;-)
Thread: Apollo Maximus Wardrobe Malfuction.... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This is why Apollo keeps getting arrested! As others have mentioned, there is a utility in his runtime to hide his dooly :-)
Thread: DAZ to make a "game-changing" announcement | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Poser & Blender coupled with Photoshop covers pretty much all of my rendering needs.
I am just now starting to create my own Poser content in Blender and changing gears would be counter productive.
I might grab Hexagon just for the tutorials that are around the net, but I really REALLY like Blender and Poser and will stick with them for the foreseeable future. Poser 8 is a better fit for me than any DS ... pro or not.
I will upgrade to Poser 2012 this spring some time :-)
