I did not know her, but she has been a fixture in the community for years. My heartfelt wishes for peace to her and her family.

I found a lovely 400+ tutorial book by PhilC. It's excellent--and might save you some work! Not free, but worth it. I've had my nose in it since yesterday.
Besides, PhilC's tutorial are always droll. :)

OMG! You're wonderful!ย I can really use this! Thank you thank you thank you. You get a free product for this. :D

Morph brush, certainly in later versions of Poser, is very simple. Sort of depends on his pose. I'd go with that for conforming clothes. However, good conforming clothing will model in the appropriate contours in clothing for masculine models. :) There's no point in adding in the genital figure unless you intend it to be poking out of clothing and seen on camera. ;)
For fully dynamic clothing, however, you will need a "helper" prop that parents to Mike's hip in front. ahem In the usual place. StudioArtVartanian had one in Rendo Freestuff. I made my own for the same use, as I wanted a slightly different shape at one point. I also use it to model over when making conformers.
You don't want to use the *actualย * genital figures for Poser cloth dynamics as they seem to cause more problems than they solve. Their normals seem to be funky and the folded mesh confounds the cloth sim in Poser.

Hi--
Sorry, no. The thigh and/or buttock bones are left in for abstruse reasons I forget--except for the rule that rigging should include one bone beyond those that are meshed and grouped.
The "ghost bones" are sometimes called "handles" as they are actually other than the figure's rigged bones. That PhilC tutorial will explain it pretty well.

What Glitterati said, for skirts. Making the skirt all hip & using ghost bones is better.
For a conformer piece:
You can group very accurately in your modeling program--much easier than Poser, for me, at least. I can heartily recommend Fugazi1968's Digital Tailor series on modeling, grouping, rigging, and so forth for Poser. That's where I learned it! Well, that and help from good friends when I got stuck. ;)
The basic workflow:
Box-model your garment from a cylinder or cube, working with your human figure in the scene and fitting the garment to it. You basically make a very low poly shape with only quads, fit, subdivide and refine the mesh to add geometry and smooth. This will get rid of most tris, BTW. Repeat. Get the geometry complexity about the same level as the figure's. Less is more, as a rule of thumb.
Grouping is making selections that reflect the underlying figure's polygon islands, then making your own islands from your original mesh by cutting and pasting in place. These new islands MUST have the same names as the underlying figure's mesh islands for the grouping to work right later.
When that's done--and it's a fiddly business--you select all the new mesh islands and export them as a single OBJ file. This is what you import into Poser, with no options chosen, and bring into the setup room.
Rigging is based on the CR2 of the figure you made the clothing for, and that's another story.
Again, Fugazi1968's video tutorials in the Rendo store are EXCELLENT. He uses Silo, but you should be able to apply everything to Max.
Hope this helps. Yell if you need more. :)

Quote - its been removed, and the writer/publisher has sent a notice to the stores where it is hosted to remove the image from there as well. during the email correspondence theyve admitted to it being an infringement, money has changed hands, I have irrefutable proof that I created the image, and it was harvested from a site that has the copyright (2005) clearly posted -- so I'm not really worried about my legal standing.
seems he had an 'Art Director' working on the graphic side of things and he just took it upon himself to harvest work from DA and other sources.ย
I'm not super pleased with how it was handled but its been taken down and I dont really have time to mess with the issue further - I have several projects I need to finish, this has already wasted half my day :(
thanks for the help folks, appreciate it!
Just heard about this issue, and I'm glad it got handled somehow.
And I thought, after looking at the cover: Whose background painting did this person steal?
And...yeah. This is why I don't post much of anything on DeviantArt.
Thread: Full Genesis - Poser compatibility may be coming | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - You have to wonder if the timing of the hint dropped has any thing to do with the release of SR3, My Michelle, the pending new Miki and Tyler...a small shot across the bow so to speak to raise G character noise level back up after it became totally quite. It's not like SR3 was under development for a day and released the next.ย They claim they are cooperating with Coop and the team. So they had to know what was going on. So why weren't they prepared to spring it on us at the release of SR3? Sounds a little fishy to me.
To me it was a subtle hint if you have SR3 to come look at our toys again before you go down another path and get further and further away. Ala S5 released and basically 100 percent G character stuff released over the last several weeks in their store.
IMHO.
My thought, too, on the timing of a basically trouble-making comment.
On the other hand, the conversation about exporting SubD cages to Poser was interesting.
Modo does Catmull-Clark subdivision/Pixar subd, and it's very cool to play with. Modo also does the kind of subdivision that Poser uses. And it rigs and so forth. And costs a freaking mint compared to Poser. But I do get to see how nifty Pixare subD is! Well, maybe Poser will have subdivision options one day.
Meantime, I'm very pleased with the sudden Poser "spring" and all the new characters being made! I don't use all of them, but it's cool.
My only regret about not having Genny (Genesis) is the lack of beautiful clothing models by Luthbel. ;) whimper

Thread: A SERIOUS QUESTION, what is it that attracts POSER users to Genesis and it's pro | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I just wanted to observe that the two good positive reasons for using Genesis--figure mixing and the consequent expansion of supported clothing, are reasons I have heard again and again.
Genesis makes wonderful monsters, too. :)
Somewhat OT, sorry:
The tux and tails M4 pictures on the previous page were NICE! Yahoo! Can we have that set? Now? Is it done yet?
A weight-mapped Poser M4 or other really decently modeled male would be lovely to have--and might take care of the shoulders thing. This doesn't have quite the sex appeal of the female figures--but I am very enheartened by all the new Poser figures coming out!
I rather like to model for M4 and such, but I have a day job and my production line is a trickle. ;^) Moreso this summer, with house renovations eating my free time. I'd love to know how to adjust rigged clothing to get really nice shoulders for a tailored jacket.
Thread: Interested in getting Silo? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I got Modo...then got Silo because of Fugazi1968's nice tutorials, and kinda kicked myself for spending the dough on Modo. Now I go back and forth between them; but Silo is my go-to startup modeler. I like it a LOT and it's a bunch of bang for the buck!
Sale seems to be off again now, but it's a damned decent price for a good little piece of software. I think these sales are a yearly thing.

Minyassa did a BagginsBill-inspired set of sculpturals and gems in a merchant resource a few years back, and I use those to death.
Hmm, she seems to have pulled her "Sculpturals."
Amen on ParrotDolphin's materials. :)
