Hey Davo, You do have the ability to import imagery as texture maps. But, not 3D objects directly yet. Though some people have written plugins for importing Lightwave objects and lighting. We are working on 3D element importing with some of the larger companies now and you should see that begin to be added in the Version5 release and beyond.

Hey Khai, You know, That is a very good point. I will make updates to the site this evening to list the upgrade price right next to the SRP price. I see how it can be overlooked. Thanks for the detail. It shall be better this eveniing :)

Hey Khai, Not sure where you are seeing that the upgrade price for VistaPro is the same as the outright new purchase. This is Yon. BTW ;) The full purchase price for VistaPro is $50. The upgrade price is $25. I was never too sharp when it came too math. But, I am pretty sure that is not the same price ;) hehehehe... The link ClintH spoke too above (http://www.vendornation.com/*ws4d-db-query-QuickShow?vp001) sends to our purchase page that offers the upgrade and the full version. You might be confusing the full purchase price because it is at the top. There is an 'Upgrade Today' button on that page that allows you to gain the special $25 cost. As for the upgade photocopy...scanning in a CD or CD cover, or box cover, is all good. But, just for Renderosity members, we are very easy on the upgrading. If none of that works, just email me. I am a very trusitng person (yon@vendornation.com) ;)Thread: VistaPro Postcard Contest | Forum: Contest Announcements
.. oh, and NO we don't expect people to buy VistaPro just to enter the contest.. that would be as dumb as the suggestion itself. This is for users that already have the full version, who will spend very little time rendering because they have been using it for years and years and know how to use the program, and then get their name out to thousands of people. And who knows, maybe one of those thousands of people is looking for a 3D artist to create some really cool 3D landscapes for an important contract they are working on. It's not like we are going to be selling prints of the winner's renderings and making millions of dollars. We are just sending out a fricken postcard! Sheesh! -Nio (using Ronin's login)

Hey Carolly,hehehe... well, I can certainly see how some one who is not familiar with our community, company, or development team could view the PostCard contest like this.
However, I will admit, and I think I stated pretty clearly in the web site, that this was to give our art team a break. So, in that effect, you are partially right. A very small part. But, I will give you the benefit of the doubt.
Fact is, there are quite a few people in this world that like to see their names in print and their artwork shared with thousands of people. We saw an opportunity to build on VistaPros' long history of customer involvement and we are taking it.
But, I can honor you not desiring to share.
As for the copyright issues, if you had read further in the site, you would have seen that we do not assume any copyright on any of the artwork that is posted there. It is all retained by the artists.
When we find an artist we think has some really cool artwork to share, then we email them an ASK for permission. If they say no, then that is just fine. See, it is an honor system. Something our company values; honor.
As for people rendering and submitting art, VistaPro has a long and rich history of using art developed by our customers. We believe it is the best way to showcase the software. With real people sharing their work and not glamming up the product with slick marketing artists ;)
Now, I am sure you can take this all as self serving clap trap. I can't really help that. All I can say is that we are not spinning, or slicking up, anything here. We are just a group of developers in love with our software and looking to share all aspects of it with our community.
Believe it or not.

Hey jjsemp, That is awesome! I did not know that it had been used for Jay Jay. I know of the show though. I will see if I can go get a tape of it. SAWEET! Thanks!! I, also, have seen it used in a couple of NOVA specials to render Mars landscapes in true form. But, I did not know about Jay Jay. Hey Dave-So, I will look into what it would take to do a download upgrade ;) Keep you posted.
Thread: Regarding VisaPro | Forum: MarketPlace Showcase
Hey Dave-So, the download we are speaking of is not a patch. Actually, it is just a free upgrade that was offered a while back for people who had the 4.0 version of VistaPro. It was an upgrade from 4.0 to 4.01. You, actually, have the latest and greatest by download standards. I am sorry to say, that there is not a download upgrade from 4.01 to 4.1. The changes were too much to be packaged into a downloadable in that version number change. I can understand the desire for it to be otherwise though ;) Wish I had a better response ;)

Hey dragongirl, Yeh, we had a friend request that on the boards at the VP Arena. I am collecting as many download files as I can find right now and we will be loading them up to the Arena site this coming weekend. You should be able to find it there under the 'Download' tab sometime this weekend :) We have FAQs databases going up this evening. So, the site is on the grow and we are getting all the killer ideas from you guys! So, keep them coming ;P

Hey ialora, There has not been an update of MarsX recently. But we released just under a year ago and I know that not everyone has it yet ;) As to the morphing, I will see if I can get a tutorial on this posted to our VendorNation VistaPro Arena this weekend. I know how to do it on the Mac version, but, need a professionals aid to get details for you on the PC ;)Thread: Regarding VisaPro | Forum: MarketPlace Showcase

Hey Dave-So, I actually used to work for Romtech (and VRLI before them) as a contract engineer way back when. Our history with them, and VistaPro of then, is exactly why we chose to support the newest VistaPro with all our efforts :) Romtech kinda lost faith with the VistaPro community. We have always wanted to correct that misdeed. Now we have the chance. John Hinkley is the number one developer of VistaPro to this day for sure. It is by his good graces that we bring you this newest version of VistaPro for PC. John keeps in daily contact with us and he has just released the 'MarsX: Landscapes of Mars' add-on to VistaPro in partnership with VendorNation. I dare say, John is in top form ;) Anyhoo, I am stoked to meet you and hope to see you Online much more in the future for sure ;)Thread: Regarding VisaPro | Forum: MarketPlace Showcase

Hey Musicat, We have a guy who is offering a Lightwave plugin on the VistaPro Arena site that allows you to import Ligtwave objects and lighting elements into the new VistaPro too. Not just the box buildings of old.Thread: Regarding VisaPro | Forum: MarketPlace Showcase

WOW! Now that is a memory Little Dragon! Yup, you are totally right. We also did some shows for Paramount and the Star Trek guys. VistaPro has a long and industrious history. We are super proud to let you know it has a future too ;)Thread: Regarding VisaPro | Forum: MarketPlace Showcase

oooooh, Spit, you are SO right! I totally forgot. VistaPro has trees, and water effects as well as the ability to render rolling waves and some landscape morphing. Nice call Spit. I totally spaced on that ;)Thread: Regarding VisaPro | Forum: MarketPlace Showcase

Hey KewelJewels, Yeah, VistaPro came into the light back in the early days of Bryce. In fact, we all came from the same area. The middle coast of California. A small town named San Luis Obispo. Not far from Bryce Canyon ;) VendorNation.com still has an office there in fact. And we are heavy into Macintosh development too. I am crossing my fingers that we might see VP on Mac OS X soon ;) Feel free to show your desire for that! It would rock there ;) hehehehehe...This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience.
