I have vue 6 pre release and I have downloaded the final version and the latest update to the final version. Should I wait to pull the trigger on the final version? To update or not to update that is the question.

i take back anything i may have implied about not getting my serial number - it was totally my fault for not seeing the invoice page link - anyhow early indications on my system are that this will be used A LOT - I have been in a C4D haze for many months now and did not even install Vue5I on my new computer last week - i think i am back to vue, certainly for ANYTHING outdoors as i cannot seem to make C4D behave outdoors to save my life - thank you to agiel and this forum for all they have provided now and over the years to our efforts and our community

it is excellnt for mid to close poser views. i use it for every poser figure i place in vue - the great beauty to me is that you can use the base textures you have aquired in poser so you can have all the variation you like with the special characteristics (notice my complete lack of technical knowledge) that dave's script provides look at my gallery if you like to see the effect almost everything done in vue has skinvue2 applied and besides dave is a really nice guy who works hard and does great work

My original purchase of vue was a download version of 4 esprit for I think 179, then a free upgrade to vue 5 esprit from there, then the sidegrade to vue 5 infinite from there, for a total of like only 350 or so. It was kind of remarkable.

thanks so much I wish more people would apply themselves and share like this - i will use this tonight

yeah my 2 cents I just got the update and I must say you all have terrified me over these things - so many horror stories but so far so good and ecosystems are wicked fast to appear on your screen ready to preview - I really like that, all else seems good so far. Good luck to everyone out there.

there you have it right from the creator's keyboard - and I might add I am just posting an image that would not have been possible witouth Dburdick's outstanding product. I think of it not so much as a run-the-python-script-and-render but it is more of like a book you get all about how to do something that includes a CD rom in the back giving you all the tools to do it. Since using sinvue I have learned more about nodes and texture maps and bumps than I ever would have learned without it.

yeah kind of the drawback of asking questions - hey how did you do that - then 500 dollars and 10 hours of tutorials later you can do it too. Eon has, what i consider, a very good upgrade path at least for me I got the download version on vue esprit 4 then got esprit 5 for very little more the next day for a net savings had I just bought vue 5 esprit, then the upgrade to infinite was not too bad. Good luck and have fun

I must preface with the fact that I am no expert - barely understand the software I use - but... In a syllable – nope -. However experiment because when you export from Poser after applying the faceoff scripts there is a change made to the texture when it comes in to vue. I think I remember that it adds a specularity or a highlighting to the skin. This highlight can really blow out if you are using standard lights in Vue, looks pretty good in Global Lighting. For me the key to controlling this specularity (which can really add realism to a skin texture) is the make all lights doubles in the same spot and set one to Diffuse only and the other to specular only. This way you can control the exact amount of specularity on your skin texture. To me the ultimate is to use Dburdick’s skinvue shader which handles specular and fake sub surface scattering right in Vue. You might have to get Vue Infinite for it to work but he says so on his site if you do. It blends with any texture you wish to import and gives lots of control. Look at dburdick’s gallery to see the effects and good luck.

Thread: Is it just me or...? | Forum: Vue
I doubt that Leo - I am looking forward to seeing your Vue posts. Perhaps Vue is very good at rendering the enviornment - something that is difficult to set up in Poser not that it cant be done but I find the Poser interface very not condusive to knowing where things are in relationship to each other. I also feel that Vue is capable of rendering poser figures better than most of what I have seen in poser, or perhaps they are just different. In the hands of a skilled craftsperson/artist either program can achieve spectacular results.

OK, my first attempt at network rendering since installing the update failed right at the end as the nodes were disconnecting the program did the windows error appology crash that makes you click OK as if you had some part of it. I have only seen this once before and I network render EVERYTHING. I rebooted and I am trying again with a shorter render to see if it will work this time.

Thread: Vue Image - Book Cover Query | Forum: Vue
And think of this for a minute, you sell your image as a book cover - can you write the cost of the software off your taxes? Just a thought. I do make book covers for ebooks mostly just for fun but they do pay about 75 per job and it really is a lot of fun if you like working on commission.

my need in terms of an update is being able to handle more content. the old vue 4 could take 7 or 8 fully textured posers before giving up on my 2 gig system. The vue infinite that first came out and the one I am running now after the reverse updates can only handle 3. While using the updates that were recinded I could get in about 6. Any indication that the tollerance for more imported content in a single scene is going up again? Other than that, for me, a mere amateur, this program is simply fantastic, and thank you for the information. I always look forward to Vue updates.
