I have learned some things about using Poser 4 and Poser Pro Pack in classic mode under OSX. It works, and there are a few gotcha's that you can get around for the most part. And its worth figuring out if you want to use Poser on a Mac since we probably wont see a Mac version of Poser 5 this year, if at all. Here is what I know: Your mileage may very from point to point, but this is pretty hard and fast stuff for most system configurations. Poser runs under classic mode with OSX versions 10.1.1 but will break and not run under all version between 10.1.2 and 10.1.4. It starts working again under 10.1.5 So if you have not yet upgraded, do so. Poser will run ONCE under classic, then you will get errors. If you crash or quit poser you will have to start classic again for it to work again. Do not restart classic. You must shut it down and then start it again. Restarting usually persists the problem. Screen redraw will suck a@@. But data never seems to get corrupt so you are ok. The bummer poser interface takes over your whole screen so when in Poser classic you often cant find a way to get back to your dock. To get out and back to 10, go up to the application menu on the upper right, then click once on the icon to open the menu. Bring your mouse down to where the dock is and it will then pop up. Stupid, but it works every time. Assigning 800 MB or more of ram to Poser will cause it to not launch, even if you have more than enough ram in your system. 500 MB or less seems to work fine. DAZ installers usually work under OSX, but not always so be prepared to reinstall products natively if you need to. The poser renderer will run hideously slow under OSX so if you are in a hurry you should reboot into OS9 for intensive rendering. But who uses that rendering engine anyway? Which leads me to.... Poser Pro Pack Lightwave and C4D plug ins do not work with the OSX versions of Poser. But you can run those applications in classic as well and they work. I just export models as OBJ files and render them natively in applications other than poser. Leaving your preview mode in full shaded mode can cause some really jerky movements when trying to work with poser scenes and cameras. Change to a different mode and things will work much faster. then go back to full shaded preview when you get things set up. Ok... thats a lot of stuff but I've worked it out over the last 9 months or so and most of it is pretty solid stuff. OSX flat rocks and there is no reaon to go back into 9 if you dont have to. ; ) Best of luck!
