Happened to me too 2 weeks ago. Two drives with "click of death" sound. One had system files and programs and the other had downloads from past couple of years. I kept intending to back-up to CD's, but got lazy. Anyway, connected the drives to another computer and copied the files a couple at time. And every once in awhile encounter the "click of death." Tapping the drive a couple of times will get the platters spinning again (at my previous job, I used to once in awhile whack Quantum drives in Compaqs to get the platters "unstuck" and spinning again). There were a few files I just couldn't recover, such as a fairy texture (wing? posette? vicky? wasn't sure). Gives me an idea of doing a render with a fairy. Yeah, one with a mischevious grin and holding a magnet and a hammer. :-O Wishing you good luck in recovering your files!!!

I've been trying to cut down on my Poser spending lately, since I barely finished most of my poser projects. And of course, 2 drives on my main computer just started failing last night and one of the drives has over 4 year's worth of Poser stuff. Currently, trying to recover files to my file server. Well, at least I still have installed Poser files on my Poser/Gaming computer. OK, so, besides buying Poser stuff, theres the building a computer dedicated to working with Poser, and playing games as an aside. Oh, hey, I just saw something.... (gets credit card to purchase another gotta have poser item)

Sheesh, ever since Poser, I've been noticing women's shoes. Oops, did I say that out loud? :-O ;-P

It seems that most listen to music while playing with Poser. I do that too and most of the time at night, late late night. But the past couple of months I haven't done much with Poser. Haven't been listening much music lately and have been sleeping earlier (due to recently scheduled earlier job shift).

I copied poser.exe and poser.rsr from my other computer (which I haven't reformatted and re-os'd, until I finished with file transfers (lots)). I also copied the PREF folder. And then I tried re-installing from the CD and then do an incremental patching (4.02.116, 4.02.117, 4.02.118, 4.02.118a, 4.03). Still no go. Then I ran Poser within the poser directory instead of from the desktop shortcut and start menu shortcut, and whadayaknow... it works. Tried from the pre-made shortcuts, doesn't save settings. Tried again from within poser directory, does save settings. Deleted desktop shortcut, recreate desktop shortcut, tried again. BAM. It works. Damn shortcuts. Oh yeah, I checked Curious Labs web page and there was a note that there was a bug with 4.03 not saving preferences.
