What I've been doing is adding some extra vertices the the edges I want sharp. Very narrow faces next to the faces I want to be flat. The Little faces will absorb all the smoothing leaving my edges sharp. The blades on the Ice Skates I just made are done that way. So poser will leave the flat stuff flat.

Thread: Mesh smoothing when importing OBJ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
What I ended up doing was this, incase any body has the same trouble. In the 3D editor i seperated the mesh at the edge into two groups. Then imported it into poser. Then I used the grouping tool to put it back together and spawned a prop. Sharp edges. Geez what a pain!
Thread: I've got a crazy idea... | Forum: Poser Technical
Yeah, it seems that the order is just as vital as count. But... But there has GOT to be a way to do this. If I can figure it out exactly, order, count. There should be a way to pull it off. Here's my thinking: A utility that compares the meshes. Old object, New object, and MT. First it will figure the diffrenct between the new and old mesh. Then take that diffrence and apply it directly to the MT. The result should result in a MT to work on the new mesh. This theory is what led me to think the OBJ mover could do it. In fact if my theory is right the Mover may be tweaked to do the job. HELLO MAZ! are you listening? or anybody with a comprehensive understanding of the OBJ file format and the way MTs work. nerd

Nope, it won't work. The OBJ Mover won't convert the file back because of a mis-match. I still think I'm onto somthing here and as soon as time permits I'm going to study it more carefully.

It's probably a mac vs. pc thing Agnes has been posting one for each format. Be sure to get the one for your machine.

WitchyGrrl, Are you getting push through or is the model actually tearing. (Or is it krinkling) For clothing on the hips I add a bunch of bulge on the side to side. That really helps for push through. On the knees. My default model has the bend angles reworked. Widen the front and narrow the back. (elbows too) this makes the knee look more natural in extreme bends. If the model is pulling apart, that's usually because there is a small gap in the original mesh.

PhilC, Let me get this. Put in an extra row of faces (real small) They will "absorb" the smooth and leave me with a sharp edge.
Thread: light problem | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
No picture? If you're using the ground prop from poser, trash it. I made a large ground prop in sPatch (freeware modeler). The trouble with the poser ground is that it is just 1 big face. and if you scale it up the shadows scale with it. (This bug may be fixed in the patch. It was on the goodie list) My solution was to make a large ground prop big enough that it didn't need to be scaled and it has about 500 faces. nerd

Firekath, I'm working on a second version of the nerd eyes right now. As soon as I conquer a technical problem I'll be posting the Super Nerd Eyes. The first set is available here or at my web page Nerd 3D.
Thread: the poser 4 patch is out | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I put the patch on. Ive been able to run Poser for hours without a single (Ding) Caught Exception 4Q2:OU812. I even moved joint rotation orders twice in a row. I created more than one figure in a session. I imported a huge OBJ model. Then, Then I exited the program, NORMALLY! WOW!
Thread: Can anyone do a sailor collar? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
My Sailor Mokei figure has a Sailor scarf attached to it. May need to tweak it a bit with magnets to get it to fit the Formal gown. www.theworks.com/~nerd/nerd3d.htm Go to the downloads and look for Sailor Mokei

I wish all patches were like this. I know exactly what files were replaced and where. An yes I skipped a few because I've done tings with them and don't want them replaced. Super Thanks to Larry for supporting his application.
