If this is true, then SM is even dumber than I always feared: Instead of making it easier for former V4 users to migrate to "La Femme", they forbid any one-click solutions. So the potential buyer has to resort to crutches like spinning scales, translation etc. dials.
Stupid is as stupid does. I wonder whether this is a mandatory requirement for SM staff...

Thanks a lot @willyb53! That explains a lot of the problems I had before when trying my freebies in older Poser versions.

[...]Another thing to note is to look after you have applied poses if they also pose the eyes. Because if you use poses created for other figures, they may have the eyes posed individually already. What I do in that case is click each eye one at a time and press Ctrl+E (or Edit > Restore > Object) to return each eye to its zero pose, and then use those Eye+Lids control dials to pose the eyes. Much more natural looking, as JohnDoe641 would like to see. 8-)
Deecey, why don't you swap out these two functions?
Make the "Eyes Up/Down" & "Eyes Side/Side" work in the traditional manner and provide two extra dials for moving the eyeballs only. This would solve the compatibility problem and also avoid further confusion.

If you are looking for a change, just dump that fossile and switch. PE is your answer.
PE... ah - I remember
By the way: When was the last time you heard something from it's creator, Erogenesis?
Where can I find a comprehensive repository of textures(most important!), clothing, props, poses, expressions, etc, made for PE?
--- I mean, something comparable to V4? ---
The real problem is that Poser users don't have anything like the G FIGURES, and every new figure that is released gets almost nill attention, nor substantial support.
And even if someone dares, it will inevitably get ripped apart like Sixus1 's "Scarlet" or remain widely unknown like the "Bella" figure.
! Not even talking about the latest FREEBIE "Elisabeth 2"
Sorry mate - not trying to start a stink here.
But the obvious absence of Ero - for me that's a strong hint about the future of PE.
So for me, it's V4 in the form of SASHA-16 for the next years, and that's what I made her for.
Happy rendering!

So what? I can spot V4 in my sleep. I rarely even bother morphing her anymore because they all look alike to me. I have SOME difficulty telling between Generations with Genesis, but not much. And that's only because I've never really played with Genesis.
Oh, so you can?
Then look at these (teen) characters I made over the last years and please tell me which one IS INDEED made from V4/SASHA-16. I guess you can do it in your sleep ;)
Best regards :)

You're welcome!
Initially the scalp movement L/R was a separate morph, but I decided to combine it with the parting movement for more ease of use.
Making the scalp fit V4 was the first thing I made because it's essential.
As you can see all works quite well.

Hi operaguy,
the hair shader setup (and a few example renders) can be found here: http://sasha-16.forumprofi.de/showthread.php?tid=117&page=1

ADDENDUM: Why does it take so long to render?
Think of a tennis ball that you throw at the nearest wood. Let's presume you are Superman and can throw that ball with indefinite energy.
If there are only a very few trees, the ball might hit one, bounce off this, then hit the next and bounce off to hit the next, until it has, by a few bounces, passed the tree line after a few moments.
But if there are MANY trees in the wood, the ball would bounce off again and again and again because there are just so many trees. One tree is always in the way of the straight trajectory. So it will take a whole lot longer for the ball to bounce off all those many trees before it finally has passed the wood.
Those "trees" are your hair strands, and the ball's "bounces" multiply your render time. You can reduce this (partially) by reducing the "Raytrace Bounces" in the render settings to 1 or 2.
However, it comes with a decrease of quality. And if your character is wearing spectacles, or you have a glass (or a mirror) in your scene, you MUST set the Raytrace bounces higher than 3 (even 5 or 6!) - with disastrous results to your render time.
There are other factors too which have an effect on a hair's "realistic look", but discussing this here would be way to complicated for this clumsy forum with it's limited ability to upload files and screenshots.
...But at least it now supports "Emojis"... XD
Hope that helped

@ operaguy:
This is also "Wild Hair", but with my own shader applied, and all bells & whistles switched on (raytrace, cast shadows, light emitter).
Of course this put a heavy toll on my rendering time: Almost three hours! [1]
But you can't have quality for nothing. The only consolation is that the smaller the render (unlike this full-blown portrait) is, the faster it will render.
So it's up to you to decide what you want: A few hair strings hung on a skull, or a nice looking hair. You must weigh the pro's and con's. And I even know of some people who let such a portrait render cook for a day!
The meme "having a bad hair day" is certainly applicable to Poser if you set it up wrong..
K
FOOTNOTE [1]:
Don't despair! The "Wild Hair" is a beast to render even with the lowest settings, just because of it's amount of strands and their very high polycount (almost 47,000 polys altogether)

Anyone who built poses with things such as shin, forearm and fingers (above the first joint) side to side, or fingers twist, should be taken out and shot.
Please Sir: May I volunteer for the firing squad? !!
That's indeed a HUGE annoyance in many click-poses, and that's why SASHA has overrides to at least avoid the most extreme effects (like, a figure jumping to a position some kilometres away...)

I simply refuse to let other people tell me that my software of choice is dead, dead, dead, and that I should use the other one, or that one, or thaz .
Silly me just insisting on using my software of choice and not listening to thaz propaganda. Tsk-tsk-tsk!

Thread: Material Preset to Change ONLY Colors on a Blender Node? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hello all!
I just wanted to add that my script (and the special shader node wiring) was set up like this for the only reason of speed!
Because the script doesn't have to iterate through all shader nodes in a material to find that one relevant node.
However, my script still causes errors on a MAC (but miraculously still works if you click them all away).
I don't have a MAC for testing so I'm dependent on @perpetualrevision's help to fix them.
So if it takes a few more days it's my fault, not @perpetualrevision's!
Please bear with us...
