Thread: Multiple figures in Poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
OK, but do you have to start with all of the basic models in the scene and create them together? Do you export them and import them as obj's? Once they're obj's they can't be tweaked with, can they? I guess I'm not seeing how these pose sets are used when the characters are in close proximity.
Thread: [noob] questions about V4.2 in poser 2012 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Do you have the Morphs++ for V4? http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-2-morphs
This would be at the top of my priority list. It provides morphs for facial features, as well as body changes. Many of the packages made for V4 and M4 require the Morphs++, but I also find that with the morph pack I need fewer add-ons!
Thread: Affordable hardware for PoserPro 12? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I thought it would cost less to build it myself, but a Xeon showed up on ebay that looks better than what I could have put together for the same price. It has a 4-core Intel and a quaddroFX VC. Some older stuff, but I couldn't do much better right now. I might spring for a new case and some fans if the ventilation isn't good enough.
Thank you, everyone, for the advice.
Thread: UV mapping in Silo | Forum: 3D Modeling
Thank you.
Can the laces be removed and added back after? When you say "collapse" the laces, is there a process for this?
Thread: UV mapping in Silo | Forum: 3D Modeling
It's the pants I'm unwrapping. Maybe I don't even need the laces there for the UVm. Could I just add them back in later?
Thread: Curious effect in Silo | Forum: 3D Modeling
Thank you both. Normals came to mind because I've dealt with them in Poser, but I don't know how to view (or change) them in Silo. A hint?
I'm still not sure why it happened. The shading gives it the appearance of angling inward, but it was extruded directly from the ring before it, and the rest of the sleeve was extruded from there. I'm digging at this because I want to understand the mechanics here, and know how to prevent these kind of things...
Thanks!
Thread: Program for Custom Morphs / Head Shapes | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Many tutorials seem to assume we already know how to do everything. Why, then, would we be seeking the tuts in the first place? Hmm..
To export a figure:
Go to the file menu and click "export"
From the options select "Wavefront obj" and single frame.
In the hierarchy, tick "Universe" at the top to deselect everything. Then tick the box for the figure (M4, Alyson, etc). If you are working on a particular part of the body (face, for example), you can select only the parts that apply.
If you are creating a morph, just check "As Morph Target" in the next window. If you just want to export the figure as a model to make clothing or a prop, you don't need to check anything.
Name and Save your .obj file.
Your modeling program will have an option in its File menu likely called "Load object" or "Import file". Use Poser's Object menu select Load Morph Target. The "..." button will let you browse to find your item.
Your new morph should show up in the Parameters window.
This works for morphs that do not change the number of polygons.
Hope this is helpful.
Thread: Where to put the downloads?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This is working now. The DAZ installer complicated things a bit, but I got thru it. Many, many thanks for your help and patience!!
Thread: Where to put the downloads?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
These "minor" things could save me a great deal of frustration later on. Thank you.
The instruction from the Smith Micro site says to create a Content folder, and in it, a Runtime folder. In the RT folder create folders for Geometries, Libraries, and Textures. Where I directed Poser to set up its content it has created a folder called Poser 8 Content that contains folders "Downloads" and "Runtimes". The RT folder has the 3 folder specified, as well as others (LipSync, Python, etc). Do I use this RT folder in this Content folder, or create another Content folder with a RT folder, or ...
I know sound like an idiot here, and in the way of technical stuff I guess I am. I just want to get this right this time and move on. Thank you...
Thread: Where to put the downloads?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
No, I haven't reinstalled anything else yet. I really want to get this figured out first. I think it's starting to click (unless that's just a loose cog rattling up there).
Installation is confusing. Two of the options are for multi-user machines, leaving Poser Directory and Other. Since I usually find it safer to let software run their default courses rather than set it up myself, Poser Directory looks best. However, I see now that "Other" is what you are referring to.
I have also found some info for loading DAZ stuff into Poser using a "dummy" folder. https://support.smithmicro.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2257/~/installing-daz-content-into-poser-for-windows
If there was a sticky up there about this sort of thing, I missed it. New Poser users need to know ahead of time that this installation method is no longer an "option", but a requirement. A step-by-step instruction written in basic and specific terms could be a help to others.
Until next time...
Thank you!

That's IT!! You've finally figured me out! Really, I'm an artist, not a computer programmer. Once I finally get over this technical stuff and can get back to the ART part of it, we'll be just hunky-dory. I do truly thank you for your enduring patience thru this.
I will now see what I figure out about "linking" this stuff now.
Thank you!
Thread: M4 morphs++ not working | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thank you. I am going to scrub this machine down first, then reload. I'm backing up some files tonight so can wipe 'er clean and start fresh. Then we'll see what happens...

Laurie, I think you're referring to the Downloads folder. That did show up, but didn't work. Taking hborr's advice, I have reinstalled the program and "Downloads" looks a little different now, with subcategories. These did not show before on the Poser screen.
Markschum, when I get all this sorted out, I'll look for that file again. Currently, it doesn't appear as an option.
I also got hold of Practical Poser 6. (I noticed Practical Poser 8 is available on Amazon.) This is a lot more useful than the manual, and has a section about library management. My concern is that, other than the Downloads folder, nothing else looks different in the Library, so there may be stuff stuck in there junking it up that I can't retrieve.
Thanks everyone!
