Curious Labs, Current publisher of Poser, was recently bought out by the company that makes Shade, a competitor to Carrara. Eovia is probably trying to woo Poser users to purchase Carrara now, before Shade has it's own plug-in or upgrade that can import Poser Figures, and is being sold as a seriously discounted sidegrade to Poser.

Actually, I took another look at your previous reply, Phil, and I get where and why to break. I'm going to have to incorporate that into my tutorials and my workflow....

Yeah, Steve. The Face Room has all the appearance morphs, and the pose room has all the expression and lipsynch morphs, and very few appearance morphs. Hope this helps.

Yes, I did make a booboo. It's actually a 1.2 mhz. And I made another mistake, I really only have 512K of ram....(I'm laughing so hard I'm gonna wet my pants....) But seriously..... I bought my whole machine (1.4 Ghz,) reconditioned for about $350.00, no monitor, about a year and a half ago. I've since upgraded the video card and the ram. Waldo, do you have any animation posted in free stuff? Iff not, have you put a link to anything in the animation forum? I'm curious to see your animation...

I'm running it on a 1.4 mhz pentium with 512 megs of ram, and I still can't render poser 5 dynamic hair. it goes for 20 minutes without putting a single pixel on the render, and then I give up. I haven't tried dynamic cloth yet, but I assume it'll be more of the same. So.... the only thing I get to use is the Face Room. If you aren't going to upgrade your cpu anytime soon, then you'd be better off with poser 4 with the propack. THAT would run, albeit rather slowly.....

...? Ok, my server won't let me upload a .zip file for some reason, so I'm going to have to publish the html to my site. I'll do it in the morning, and I'll let you know when it's up.

Doing the clip renders is a good idea. Try rendering one in poser using the full frame bryce render WITHOUT the audio track imbedded, and then add the audiotrack in after the render. and if video wave can hadle it, you might want to try converting the .wav file to .mp3. (download.com has converters. I'm not sure if they have any free ones, but there would at least be one you could try for free)

I think the problem might be the double compression. (It's compressed when it comes out of Bryce, and then compressed again when you render it in poser.) If your computer can handle it, you might want to try full frames when you render in bryce, and then try it in poser. If you can't handle the full frames, try lowering the compression settings on the divx codec, or maybe brightening up the poser scene. When you import into poser, you're importing a background avi, right? You're not using the avi as a texture for a square? (poser 5 only)
Thread: My Current Demo Reel | Forum: Animation
Thanks Roy. I'm going to add some music. I rushed the reel together for a job application, and I didn't have enough room on my site for the reel with music. But I've since purchased more room, and I'm going to reload it with music, probably this week. If you or anyone else wants to offer critique, I'd be happy to hear it. I'll start: when the goblin does his backflip, his center of gravity is his hip. It shouldn't be, but at the time I didn't know how to change it.

I'm glad to see other people using Judy and the Face Room too.... maybe I'll eventually be able to buy some new outfits for Judy.... Does anyone know if Vicki's clothes can be used for Judy? Oh, and Baka, I use two dials specifically to make her look more feminine and pretty, Male/Female dialed up towards Female, and Younger/Older Dialed towards younger. Remember, too, if you set the caricature dial to negative, it reverses the other dials. (Negative and positive swap) I'm not sure if every dial gets swapped, but I know for a fact that younger/older and male/female do. Hey, I'm going to start a new thread about the faceroom. I think we should all get together there and swap tips and techniques. Maybe if we can show the community that Don & Judy are just as versatile as Vicki & Mike, using them will catch on a bit better...
