OH NO!!! If my machine crashes and I have to re-load P5, does this mean I have to wait on getting it activated again?? Or is this 'code' thing good for my own product for it's life and reinstalling once I go through the "process" the first time around? Lyne

Thread: Ruby Tuesday - Want to see the Poser 5 figures rendered? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This is all very fascinating and can't wait to get my copy.. I do have questions though.. I am not sure what this "Firefly renderer" is... will that work on my win98se high end machine? Or will I have to resort to the P4 renderer until I go to win2K? And with all this talk of smoothing a mesh with the render.. does this mean that if I export a P5 person for use in Vue that the human will be a rough figure in need of further smoothing? This would be awful! Sorry for my confusion on this issue.. P5 figures seem to be such a new (low res??) different mesh. I am also wondering with all the morph possibilities in the (wow!) Face room, can you save the morphs themselves like you can in P4, or at least the whole figure with the morphs in it? Again, sorry for my confusion.. It's all so fascinating, yet complicated looking on first look! I too thought the new female looked a bit weird, but with the explanation of how the faces can be molded and created to look very individual then it is pretty neat! Let's hope that there will be artists who will create these pre-set new people for us folks who don't have the time! I might have missed it.. can the figure have the pretty LONG eyelashes that Vicki and Steph have? At this point I am glad that I have Vicki and Steph with their face morphs and the special high res maps I have bought for them.. they are ready to go and do not need to be 'built' to look pretty or interesting... Which brings me to my next question! Can folks who do this sort of thing sell or share the P5 cr2 morph sets just like for P4? I would think that someone would offer hair styles too.. ! It does create a whole new people market I would think, depending on any restrictions... ? Lyne

Thread: poser dinosaurs free for download | Forum: Vue
I don't think these are DAZ but they are probably Dedicated Digital dinos from what I have seen... not legal to give those away if they are.. I think Vue has a cycad, doesn't it? Those short squat palm looking things that were here in dino times... Lyne

Thread: Umbrella? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Oh how cool, thanks for the links.. and wanted to add there is a little "drink umbrella" at 3dcafe.com - it's partly closed like the drink umbrellas are.. it can be re-mapped with mapper once made into an obj. I did that for myself but I think I can't give that away, because of 3dcafe's freebie rules.. Thanks to Sam's 3D .. been looking for beach chair and beach umbrella!! Lyne

But how will this show up in the Libraries?? And I assume I can still have my SEPARATE Poser THREE, and FOUR Posers alongside the new Poser 5? Lyne

Thread: No OBJ import for P5? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
ZStrike, I didn't catch "Kupa's" reply either.. being I was looking for Steve's name... regardless, it is good that he will have the person responsible 'flogged' for causing all of us, who are dedicated to Poser (EVEN SINCE Metacreations! :) to be eagerly reading EVERY WORD of the announcments... and reacting ! Thread: No OBJ import for P5? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This has GOT to be a mistake... to shut out all use of the models, free and other wise, created in obj format from being imported into 5?? What are they thinking if this is not a typo? HELLO STEVE COOPER!?? Of course models can always be converted to another format before importing, but that may change too much...so may be a waste.. and of course models can still be 'phi-ed' into geometries, one would IMAGINE... unless 5 is just too different?? But not to be able to use the import of obj ability.. Why LIMIT 5's use?? I am sure most of us will be keeping our Poser 4 to retain full use of all our libraries and proper functions! Perhaps 5 will just be a "specialized poser" for specific uses, while 4 is the real mainstay!? Lyne

Thread: 3 new freebie Poser dog breeds coming soon! | Forum: Bryce
Thanks all... I just do the dogs that I think the poser dog will work for... but who knows.. next time I do a batch, if I add some more morphs I will branch out into other breeds... I am a cat person myself, but just sort of fell into doing the dogs! (and realistic cats have long hair for the most part and that poser cat.... !) Lyne

Well if you have the magazine or if you have seen Guitta's waterfall.. I love the texture of her waterfall!!!! I think my fall does look real, but Guitta just has a special talent for how textures show in her vue art! Lyne

Thread: Update numbers confusion | Forum: Vue
confusion I have "done well"? I did NOT update to 4.1 that e-on just announced... I have vue 4.01-something... I don't think the very first update that e-on put out for vue 4 is what they are announcing now. As I was trying to explain, I need to find the exact version string of numbers and post that to be clear on which patch I am using. I have seen so many problems with patches and updates, that I will not go through all the adjustments needed to patch up... and take the chance that my particular version's reaction to the patch(s) would be favorable... SO I am staying with the "if it isn't broke, don't fix it" school of thought, and continuing to enjoy vue more than any other program! :) Lyne

Thread: POSER 5 will kill sales | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
IF it is true that Poser 5 will REQUIRE Win2000 or XP... I will be going without it.. I just upgraded my hardware and am running an AMD Duron 1000 with 512 MB ram... apparently P5 will NEED a 'dynamic session' so that it won't overload like it now does in P4 with even two mil figures all dressed with all those "clothing figures"... Why not just continue taking a fully posed, dressed mil figure OUT of Poser 4 and into Bryce, Vue or where ever? The hair thing looks fascinating..but I have bought a LOT of high quality hair (here) and will continue to happily use my P4 and get my $$'s worth! :) My win98se is rock solid with "normal use" of Poser, Bryce and Vue as well as my modeling programs which may not like win2K or XP.. in fact I HATE XP home version, having seen it on my hubby's laptop.. can't afford the "fixed XP" Pro version.. sheesh! It's too bad that the mil figures got so 'heavy' or this would not even be an issue.... I have all of them, and enjoy them.. but wish they could be made 'lighter'!! Lyne
