3 - Brendan - it makes me think of 'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves did gyre and gimble in the wabe...' Marvellously slimy, overall! 2 - Tuttle for sheer originality and imagination 1 - AgentSmith, for capturing the mistiness of Autumn - it's just like that outside here today I wanted to vote for more, but came down to these three after a lot of struggling with decisions. There were so many good entries this month, it was very hard to choose!

There's a link at the top of each gallery page - took me a while to spot it at first, too - it's near the 'upload' link. Honest. ;))

Tremendous pic it is now. I notice you've changed to girl's pose a little - much better, she looks far more natural!

Just wow, really! Both night and day views are really looking good. If you want one small criticism, it's that the clothes in the larger night picture (the y look fine when it's smaller) could do with being more subtly coloured - rust, sage and teal rather than red, green and blue - but, other than that, I have no criticisms at all - I adore your building!

Could you explain what you mean by 'explodes into its components'? I can't say I've ever had a problem with 3ds objects - perhaps you could give a link to an example?

I've seen that gremlin around the place - but where does it come from? I want to play with it too..... Nice nail, btw. I think something that would help you achieve photorealism is a bit more bump on the wood - it looks a bit like formica the way it is, rather than wood with a texture. I found a wonderful texture resource at the link above - do investigate it - I'm addicted to the textures from there!Thread: newbie dumb ouestion... | Forum: Bryce
Yeah, as Trouble said, export your Poser figures as Wavefront objects. Then go to 'Import object' in the Bryce File menu, and voila! If the figure's textures aren't saved in the same folder as the obj. you'll have to navigate to where they are and load them at the prompt. Then you have to fiddle with various transparency settings to get Poser hair and Vicky or Mike's eyes to appear right - there are tutorials on this, but basically you load the textures (I'm only talking about those which have a transmap here), then make sure that you have 'Blend transparency' checked in the drop down in Bryce, and put the texture dot into the texture channel (usually A if it's just the one texture you're using). That was probably a very garbled version of how it works (I've just got in from work and I'm not thinking straight yet) so don't hesitate to ask for more details if you can't understand what I'm on about!

If it turns out that you can't give away your Poser 3, the potential recipient might be interested to know that it was available as a freebie with a UK based magazine fairly recently. I think it was Computer Arts, but I can't be sure - however, someone else might be!

I just wish there was a separate forum for Poser 5 users (as was suggested a while back by someone with more foresight than me). Before 5 was released, it was easy to come here and just read about ways people use the software, helpful hints, questions etc etc - USEFUL stuff. Now it takes an age to wade through all the Poser 5 complaints, rebuttals, speculations, first tries in the material room and other such stuff. None of it interests me as a Poser 4 user. If and when I decide to upgrade (?) to 5 then I'll go looking through all these threads, but until then I just wish they were somewhere else. Sorry, just a personal opinion.

I don't believe it! The only other person in Ireland is called Storm (hi Storm if you're reading this!) - and that's my alternate nick, that I use on most other sites...what a coincidence! Brilliant idea!

Funny, that. I inadvertently went to upload a thumb of around 28k the other day, and it was rejected by the server. Wonder how people get round it? (Not that I want to, just wondering)

Just thanks to all of you who contributed to the leaf collection - much appreciated! Now al I have to do is think of something to do with 'em ;))
