Wow. Wow. I smell a tutorial needing to be written and I think we see a candidate for writing it... ;)
Thread: Status of this months Challenge | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sorry -- challenge - - contest -- I should have been more clear... But I found it! http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=813860 (It should all be on one line) Thanks!

Looks pretty good. Perhaps the lighting could be more intrigueing. Perhaps try some spot lights to make a more mysterious and/or frightening mood ? I like it so far. Just my .02 worth.
Thread: Is Poser 4 supposed to be this hard to learn? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hang in there! Keep practicing and experimenting. I know for myself there was a long period at first where I just could not get the poses I wanted. Then one day I hit on an idea to stand just like the default pose and then move myself into the position I wanted to pose. I did it one move at a time and then made the same move for my posed character. I think I would have died of embarrasment if my wife had come home early and found me standing like that, moving one arm, then tapping at the computer, then repeating this until I was sitting in the sofa... but hey, it worked. Another big thing for me was when I realized that the motion is not necessarily the movement. By this I mean, you turn your head to the right - that's the motion. But the movement (for your character) is -not- to click on the head and set twist to '23'. The movement is more like lower neck twist 7, neck twist 10, head twist 6. Well, this is just my .02 worth. Hang in there and keep trying. For myself I know there was a frustrating 'hill' to get over.

Hey, looks pretty good. It's better than my first 3d object I created ( I cringe at how bad it came out ). Lookin'good!

Ditto - ditto (although I've never talked to them on the phone). I too have been very happy with DAZ3D and their products. Thanks DAZ
Thread: New Riding Boots for Michael, comments please!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I like them. These look much like 1939-ish Prussian caverly boots to me. Might I suggest a morph target for English style riding boots and Western style riding boots? English riding boots would have that front-back "V" at the top (if I'm not mis-remembering correctly), and Western boots would have a pointier toe. --maybe with some horns they could be Klingon boots, too! Do the spurs morph too? -different point styles maybe? (gee, just full of ideas for ya, aren't we?

I tried it again and just let it do its thing while I got some tea. I made it there this time - and it does look cool Thanks for posting it! -asp1vip

p.s.- I didn't mean to sound rude. I just don't have the connection speed, or maybe my browser hung, 'cause it just sat there with the hard drive doing something...

Ow. I'd like to see it, but please provide a better link - one that does not lead to so many "java applets loading..."
Thread: Postwork: yay or nay? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I think it depends on the image and what you're trying to achieve. Sometimes a pure CG render is all that needed and/or achieves what has to be to make the image "complete". Sometimes they need more work with some other utility or program. I think the end result to be achieved will determine the use of post-rendering or not - neither good nor bad - but what's best for the image. -asp1vip
Thread: Comments please - "Unjustly Held" | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
"If you're doing post work..." I was going to see how much of it I could render just in Poser alone. "...the prisoner's arm should fade away." I used a box in poser as the base for the wall. The opening is via a transparency applied. Problem is you see the back (inside) surface of the wall. So I used a flat square prop with color set black and set it against the back (inside) wall. The cutoff of the arm is because of this. Maybe I'll just use a flat square prop for the wall instead and perhaps that will solve the "back (inside) wall" problem I have. Then I could actually create "space" inside and you'll see more of the prisoner. (c'mon 5 o'clock so I can go home and try it! ) I hadn't thought about creating the ground in Rhino. I was just thinking texture and bump map. Hmmmm. Got me thinking now!

"...the right amount of dirt..." I agree. I was going to wait on more lighting and dirtying it up until I had all the major stuff in the scene. More anguish on his face I will do. And their hands closer but -just- not yet touching; I like that idea.

Hmm. I was envisioning as he knelt, he stuck the tip in the ground so he'd have a free hand, yet it's ready close by if he needs it.
