Quote - It's no secret; Coop mentioned a while ago that Gabe is working on a new male figure...
Wish he'd work on M4 instead. I wish someone would do a nice, well-supported custom figure for M4. :/Â
Thread: are the primitives included in Poser props, pre uv-mapped? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Those renders look lovely! The snow and the parks.
You made sky shaders?Â
There is the cloud procedural, but mixing the colour seems to require some luck.i hit a couple snaggles with the whole posable sky idea. for one, it's too clean, and also learning the perspective technique to make the sky look distant.Â
imo, there is something superior about viewing through the face camera? it's like, more natural somehow.
instead of clouds with silver linings, mythril linings, lol
sometimes the sky looks close, i went to Galway several years ago, the sky looked almost close enough to touch.
That's probably because the face camera by default has a higher focal setting than the main camera (95 mm and 75 mm, respectively).Â
Thread: Shader node for Plaster | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - So that was the free. Here is something I started work on four years ago -Â planning to sell architectural shaders. It's a rough plaster, painted. I have many variations on this. Hundreds actually.
Did anybody notice I'm listed as a vendor here, now? Getting closer!!! Nothing in the store yet, but things are in progress. If only I could put aside my pesky day job...
That's great to hear! :D Though I confess I'm surprised to see you hear and not at RDNA.Â

What settings do you recommend for the Scatter node? Also, it'd still be really nice to have a Gen4 mapped BBEye... ;)

That's probably true about context--and to some degree true in real life, as well. The carnelian looks spot on, though.

I haven't had a chance to render it yet (or I did, but it was a big render and sadly crashed), but I did set it up according to Bagginsbill's methods (only using vary pale colors) and plugged it into both ks_microfacets--it looked good in the material room at any rate.

All right, it was saved. I set the sphere as invisible to camera, which is why the background is transparent. I forget which file I used on the sphere...it was HDR and it was interior and it was by Brian James. All I remember. The light set was "Realism" from Synthetic and Blackhearted's ProStudio--I highly recommend their sets, incidentally. The material was applied to a hi-res sphere scaled up for easy viewing.Â

Thanks, Bagginsbill, that looks like exactly what I was looking for. :D
@Miss Nancy: Did you have an environment for the pearls to reflect? I set up a basic render with BB's Environment Sphere and some of Synthetic's lights (so I didn't have to wait for IDL) and it looked absolutely perfect to me.Â

Thanks! That's more or less how I did it, except yours looks better. ^_^
On my second question, would a sapphire or ruby cabochon look more or less like glass but with a different IOR?Â
Thread: PP2012: Pearls | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well, I'm a little embarrassed...It seems that Bagginsbill has a pearl shader included with Matmatic. And a quick test render reveals it to be everything I could have hoped for.
On the faked irridescence, yes, I'll post a render and a material room screen capture of what I've done with that. It'll probably be tomorrow, though.Â

Thanks, Miss Nancy. That might work, plus it gives me a reason to finally learn how to use Matmatic. :)
