Oooo... it's wonderful! I'd love to play with it if there's any chance? That render of the inside is simply stunning - it just looks like it has so many possibilities - so please, pretty please can I have a go?

Well, the image in question has finally finished rendering. This is it. I would welcome comments on it - it needs postwork on the manes, I know, and I was thinking that some blades of grass would help. Unfortunately, because I got so bored waiting for the render to finish, I drank far too much whiskey, and all attempts at postwork on manes etc are impossible right now! Will have a go tomorrow, if I get a chance - people coming for dinner..arrghh...Thread: October Montly Challenge Entry - "Seasons Central" | Forum: Bryce
What a brilliant idea! Love the body textures, and the angle - it really works for me. I'm impressed (and a bit envious!). I like ducks, too - preferably with orange sauce!

I love it when people do something unexpected - this is a wonderful picture! I'm forever trying to get away from the standard viewpoint, - but without much success! I think this is great - and inspiring, too...

Yep, that's the same pile of leaves that everyone seems to have! In fact, I went to 3Dplants to get them after seeing them in an earlier post. I love them! And the figures are UD Plant Pixies and Treant, with rather modified textures on the pixies (can't recall what I did with the Treant - have rendered and re-rendered this so many times now I can't remember anything about it - does anyone else do that?)

Whilst on the subject of DEMs - does anyone know where to find them of countries other than the US? I'm particularly interested in Ireland, but can't find anything!

And here's my attempt - took a kind of 'ice queen' approach - and enjoyed every minute of it - thanks!Thread: Bryce 5 trees | Forum: Bryce

The pub in question is in the west of Ireland. I'm English, but moved here (Co. Mayo, right on the coast) three years ago. 43, one husband (oh yeah, I'm female!), four dogs, four chickens and two cats. And yes, I think where I live influences what I do as far as making pictures goes - we're surrounded by very Bryce-like landscapes - mountains, lakes and sea - and the ever-changing weather is an inspiration! Then there's all the Celtic stuff, of course...

Aaargh - I hate Ebay - but I'm interested in buying anything 3Dish at less than the 'as new' price. I have one husband, four dogs, four chickens (3 of which unfortunately seem to be tuirning out to be roosters!) and two cats - but I still have to find time for my 3D fix! If there's anything that doesn't shift on Ebay, please let me know - just message me here. I'm saving up for a Wacom tablet at the moment (somehow I think it will magically gift me with talent!) but still have a bit of spare cash hanging around (just don't tell the husband!)
Thread: Please help me with a little experiment. | Forum: Bryce
Can't see a number in the first pic - and I ALWAYS see the numbers I'm s'posed to (good colour vision here, though if it's more than 3 feet away I need me glasses!). As for the indent/outdent thing, B looks indented to me, and C outdented (if there is such a word!). Hope that helps. p.s. Have been to the pub, so that might influence my perception! :))
Thread: Septembers Bryce Challenge Winners Are Here!!!!!!!!!!!! | Forum: Bryce
It was a lot of fun - thanks to all who took part, and a huge thanks to AgentSmith for sorting it all out - can't wait for the next one, and congrats to the winners!
Thread: Just my thoughts on the contest and the artists... | Forum: Bryce
I do this stuff for fun - I post the pics I'm happy (but never satisfied!) with in the main galleries (Bryce and Poser), but started doing the challenges because they make me tackle subjects I otherwise wouldn't bother with (I hate doing 'space' pics, for example, but learned a few things from this month's challenge). I'm not bothered about who likes what I do and who hates it - or who says so! I just enjoy the experience of creating - it's what I do to relax. I can see that your works take some effort and thought, but they're far too overtly technical for my taste - I like the 'soft' side of Bryce - couldn't care less about Boolean structures or how long it took to build them. In fact, I think that any pic which succeeds by virtue of the complexity of its construction - erm - doesn't. To me, art is about communication - it's implicit, not explicit. Skill is secondary - communication is primary. I don't call what I do 'art' (which is just as well, I hear you snigger!)- it's 'making pictures with the computer'. In other words, the medium is, in my case, more the point than the content. I wish it were otherwise, but I don't have the talent. Doesn't mean I can't appreciate it in the works of others, though, or acknowledge their right to have fun 'creating' - no matter how good or bad the results! You said, "My point, I guess, is that there is more to art than it being just in the eye of the beholder. It's also in the fact that the critic has to know what the hell he's talking about". Of course, that's not true. Critics don't have to know anything - what you post at Renderosity is open to criticism by anyone who's a member. Perhaps you're trying to say that you only value the opinions of those who you consider to 'know what they're talking about'. Fine - that's your privilege, and I have no argument with it. However, I reserve the right to differ in my opinion as to who knows what they're talking about and who doesn't! In other words - the way you feel about criticism is perfectly valid, but don't expect everyone else to feel the same way!

3 points - Stuie - I just love the colour scheme and the old sci-fi movie feel. 2 points - John Penn - brilliantly posed figure! 1 point - Rj001 - great sense of 'hugeness' (I like huge! ;))

Call me stupid, but how do you tell who did each pic? The only way I can do it is by looking at the sig, if any - and not all of them are signed! Can someone please hand me a clue, as I've lost mine - thanks! :))
