Thread: Hello bagginsbill... help re. glass? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hello,
I played a bit with the glass shader from that thread, the 4-node version:
The surface looks really good, but the thickness of the glass seems to have no
influence on the refraction.
I made a test with a cube, scaled to 5% thickness, and the same, at 20%.
I would expect 4 times more shift of the refracted picture, but it is essentially
the same. Also, it does not matter if I use just the fresnel node.
My suspicion is, that Poser only refracts when a ray enters a surface, but not
when it leaves the refracting material. Can anyone confirm this?
If so, is there a trick to work around that?
Best regards,
Micael
Thread: P8 : what's with the library refresh all the time ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
P.S.: I only have that during startup of Poser, not while I am working. So, I can load Poser, wait 5-10 minutes until the refresh is done, but then I can work fine all day. But still, the wait time is annoying.
I heard it's something to do with the version of the Flash player, updated that, but no change.

Hello,
same here. Initially thought it is whenever I installed new content only, but I have it also sometimes without any changes to the runtime.
I'm not yet sure when it occurs, so I have not yet filed a bug report (and yes, it is the same
in the PPro beta).

Thread: Gamma Correction and Poser Strategy | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - That script already ships with Poser (although it's way too much clicking): Scripts->MaterialMods->changeGamma. I intend to make a script that needs less clicking and allows more choices for that, so just wait ;-)
Hello,
thanks a lot for the fast reply! This is exactly what I need.
Since the script is provided with source, it is easy to create a "no-ask" version
of this one with the default answers as required as hardcoded input, that will
reduce the clicking.

Michael

Thread: Gamma Correction and Poser Strategy | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hello,
well, we now have PPro 2010 beta, which includes indirect lighting AND GC.
This is a great plus! (And the beta runs more stable for me than the initial P8 release).
The only thing I need now is a script which sets the gamma value of displacement
and bump maps to 1.0, or the results with GC turned on might look weird.
(Try DAZ / RHS "Atonement" for example, the floor looks very weird with GC on.)
In cases where the same map is used for bump and color, an additional
node will be required.
If someone has such a script, please post. Otherwise I have to attempt such a thing
over the next days.
Best regards,
Michael

Quote - Note especially the P value around 0.2 on Y, which gives a gradient from bottom to top.
(P=1 gives a sharp change.)
Hi,
that is the piece of information which I was missing. What does the numeric value do?
My Poser manual says nothing about its function.

Michael
