Hi! Welcome to the Fractal Forum! Don't be afraid to post any questions.. there's an amateur running the place, why not? ;] Why not post an image of one of your spirals that "didn't turn out", and we can try to figure out why? Everyone here is very nice, and very helpful. We're all here to learn.

I tried Anim8oronce- I crashed it. ;] I have Poseay, I like it. I do not want to convert to POV, though. I hate dealing with native pov. I need to "see" what I'm doing. As for bryce- I can't spend that kind of money for one task- I wish I could! Hi, Gabriel! Isn't eh a wonderful charachter? I wrote Mychelle, the other creator, and asked if they could do more like that- he needs an old lady! What I could do about the shoulders is to increase everything else exponentially to make the shoulders look smaller by comparison, and scale down slightly- thanks for the idea. Still need to smooth the bloody thing! ;]

I bookmarked that to study. Cool. What I want, though, is to smooth an obj file and leave it as an obj file to import into Moray. (Maybe in my next lifetime I'll have time to learn POV. Personally, I think any text editing based system needs to get with the program, lol. Give me a GUI or forget it!)

Sigh It looks good, and I'm sure it's a great model. Unfortunately, it won't help me. I have an idea for a series of images, but the only charachter I've found so far that I can use is Enzio. Why? He looks like a regular old guy. I need "real people" charachters- I don't mean slightly imperfect, lol- I mean ones that look like me, or my friends. Ordinary.

Thanks, DTUREGRIF, but are you sure of that or just guessing? I had the same problem with Vicky. Have you used Moray? If it's a "yes, for sure, I know this works", then sign me up, I want it. ;] I think, after reading these posts above, that it must be a smoothing problem, but I can't find a single utility to smooth a mesh.

I suppose I don't need the polys increased as much as smoothed. I'm rendering an example of the problem I'm having, it'll be done in a mo'. I'll show you then.

The modeler I'm using doesn't have a "smooth" function. I either need a way to do that before importing, or just a very high poly model to start with. (Or a way to export the model with high polys?)

Cool. I jst wanted to be sure we were on the same page. That's been a "project" of mine since before I was a mod. I am still trying to get it, too. I think it would be fantastic for anyone who wanted to to be able to offer their work as posters and such. I'll try to find out where it's at, right now.

So... if I'm reading this right, we want to be able to sell our fractal art as posters, mugs, tees, etc?

"no offense to you or the rendo mag, but i meant magazines that people besides us know about. i mean, WE know we're good, but... nobody else has ever heard of us, ya know?" All I can say at this point is that, very soon, just about everyone will know about our mag. ;] As far as the resume page, it wouldn't hurt for people to start updating their artist pages, and making sure that the important information is there. Be sure all the contact info is there, a brief summary of your education and experiences, your best pieces as samples, etc. That will make less work later.

I see that sort of thing whenever I fly over New Mexico- mostly buried and eroded remnants of old volcanic craters. Excellent image. How do you get something like that?
