I got your point Riddokun, I was just trying to further explain what I was talking about previously, but not to worry.

Riddokun, I was only joking about getting the clothes to fit, I didn't use any tricks or anything I just used the standard conform from within poser and then painted out the 'crap' in photoshop. Btw Paintshop pro I believe is alot cheaper than Photoshop and does just as good job and i think it has a 30 day trial (which never used to run out). it uses layers etc. there are quite alot of ways to draw black lines on your figure. I just choose to do it by hand as I am used to drawing anime that way although it's harder and easier in a paintpackage at the same time if that makes sense? harder to get the line shape you want but easier to remove if you go wrong :) but with everything it's trial and error and you will get better, I have just started using poser to draw figures so am a relative newbie too regards that kind of thing, but what I lack in poser skill I make up for in postwork. But what i've said before at the end of the day you are producing a piece of artwork if you had to redraw a arm or some hair to get the look it doesn't matter as it's the finished picture that matters. Your render looks ok, what I would suggest though, is use a white background and turn your main light up as bright as possible this will give a better anime shadow and the white background makes the colours brighter, grey tends to make the colours look dirty. what I would do with that image next is bring it into my paint package and brighten the image to get better cartoon colours and tidy up any lines I didn't want. My only real problem with the render is your lighting angle you lose the 'anime' nose it's kind of a trade mark of anime drawing. hehehe hark at me I made 3 pictures and am talking like an expert :/

If I told you that Riddukun I'd have to shoot you :) nah j/k, believe it or not I conformed it to animedoll out the box cartoon rendered it and then got rid of the crap lines and touched up the discrepancies in photoshop (postwork). however there is a product by davidC that lets you conform any (in theory) item of clothing from one model to another, but it is $39 to buy so have avoided it so far. Also there is a program called the Tailor but again I have avoided it so far due to limited budget. But if you have photoshop it is easy to do postwork using layers. bring your render into photoshop and first thing you do is copy the layer so you have 2 of the same image (always keep the background one untouched in case you go wrong) then make a new blank layer above the previous layers and paint on any colours or paint over any black lines ya need to remove etc. (don't worry about going over the existing areas but do try to keep inside the boundaries) finally make a new layer above the rest and draw in any new black lines you need, I find holding shift down whilst using the brush makes a rubberband so drawing lines even curves is doable if you take your time. once black lines are in place use the eraser tool on the colour layer to remove excess colour that overlapped. save your new image as whatever format you like and keep the .psd with it's layers for reference and change later. remember the beauty of using layers is you can build up several colours on different layers, and if you make an error discard the layer and try again, always leaving the original untouched below. Like I said takes a bit of extra time, and I'm no expert by any means but that's more or less what I do in the postwork phase. Also whilst it's nice you managed to get some gloves for the sailor suit don't worry about material zones so much in cartoon mode, like I said render the model in the colour needed for the various parts then bring them into photoshop in different layers and cut them away leaving the various colours required. Hope that helps.

Riddokun, I have done several cartoon mode renders with poser 4, as you've seen in my gallery. I find hand colour the areas and in areas where there are two materail zones (like the sailor moon gloves. I render once in flesh and once in white, then place the white over the flesh and cut away the un-needed parts. Cartoon mode isn't something you can render away at for hours with out at least some post work. and as it's cell shading anyway there is nothing wrong with postwork, and sometimes is a must. It takes more time to get a good cartoon shade and I'm not expert at it in poser that's for sure, but it saves alot of time than drawing them from hand which is what I like about it :) Insomniaworks - Monday = work :( will render the boots insitue when I get home tonight...stay tuned.

Blimey Compiler, you whip up in an hour what I been trying to do for 2 days lol... We need a male Anime doll, girls are nice and all but it's just not the same without some guys around :) I like your soldier, looks good, what did you mean by proceadural texture for the cammo texture? I been drawing cammo and tiling it yadda yadda but I always get the crotch problem, I was going to leave it as real life cammos don't meet up at the seams anyway. Actually on the newer textures I have added bikini bottoms akin to the tops to hide it, which actually add to the anime look anyway but I am always willing to learn new things.

Senbotsu means died/killed in battle, a bit like KIA. the idea behind the anime is that criminals, clinically insane and social misfits are no longer incarcerated for their crimes/conditions but are instead drafted into the millitary to serve as the fleets shock troops. Someone has to be the first into battle and as the first to engage the enemy usually has a slim chance of survival (think first to land on a beach, first to storm a castle, first to attack a bunker etc.) It might as well be societies trash that gets killed rather then brave outstanding citazens. Of course if these misfits survive the engagement, there is always next time... That's the background for the idea, the main characters are of course members of these shock units also known as Senbotsu Units as to coin the phrase 'they are already dead, they just don't know it yet!' Of course in true anime tradition a core of these misfits will become major heroes in the defence of their ship and of course will save the world... enjoy :)
