For some reason the image didn't load. Oh well. For charicatures again, just run a web search using that word as the key and you'll get a wealth of responses.

What defines a charicature.. Comedy. The Bond "lookalike" in the rosity store is a charicature. It takes the known features of a person and exaggerates them. The image included is a charicature of Tony Blair. As such it does not need licensing. Artists' rights of publicity are big business in this day and age. Many producers believe that if a performer is deceased, no permission is required. This is a myth. Under the laws of nearly every state, performers have the right to license their likenesses and performers both in connection with use in feature films and television programs (under union requirements) as well as for use as endorsement in commercials. While use of a performer may not be expensive for use in film and television, use of a performer in a clip in a commercial can run into five and six figures. In order to obtain permission to use the names and likenesses of live and deceased performers, a producer must contact the attorney handling the artist or the estate concerned and negotiate a fee The following link details what was done for an online astrologer - this was to use the face, voice and writings. Depending on the artist in question the cost for using a "face" might be less. Arny, Diana, Madonna, Tom Cruise etc etc would likely charge a fortune. They'd also want to review the "look-alike" to make sure that they wouldn't suffer from brand reduction. Their faces and names are vital to them, so will not tolerate anyone making money off their fame if they feel it is insulting or risky to their reputation. http://www.lawvantage.com/summaries/USA/Technology/InternetandeCommerce/SUM01412.shtml a little more information can be found at Brands and Imaging http://www.brandsandimages.com/ http://www.suzyvaughan.com/lawoffice.html http://www.netropolisusa.biz/gate.html http://www.therichman-agency.com/_about-rra.html That's a few examples of what it's about, how to deal with it, how to get permission and how much it'll cost. Just run a websearch on celebrity licensing and you should have more than enough information to find out how you can and cannot use celebrity faces/names without paying for the privilege and how to get that privilege.

Hope you have all the signed releases and requisite licenses for the celebrity morphs - unless they're charicatures of course.
Thread: Tutorial: Watermarking your Morph Targets to catch morph thieves. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Most people really don't need to worry about how we do it uless we find an infringement. Sorry Anton, I disagree with you completely here. No people don't know how to look for "your" morphs, you can do that yourself, but they DO need to know how you do it quickly so THEY can do it quickly and protect their own work. See this is swings and roundabouts isn't it? Suggesting to someone how to protect their mesh/morph is one thing, but a valid point is, how do you find that quickly in amongst a whole bunch of others. If you're going to tell people how to do it, you might just as well tell them how to find it quick so that their loss isn't so great if it's sold or distributed in freestuff (which I'm sure you can associate with). Yes I appreciate that this gives those who would steal an insight into how you do things, but surely simply posting this tutorial gives potential thieves warning on what to look for? Even if hidden some thieves can be strangely persistant. :)

Yes, open the file in a text editor. If it was created in P4 it'll have { Version { number 4.0 (or 01 depending on service pack) at the top Pro Pack will have 4.2 and I should image version 5 will have number 5.0 (plus service pack) at the top. This applies to cm2, pp2, cr2, pz2 and all the other active files.
Thread: Texturing Poser Figure in Cinema | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The Amazones plugin is actually an excellent tool and far superior to the CL plugin mess - not to mention you can cut down on texturing time by employing Mat pose files for other Poser figures. As Swamp says, the black area under the eyes is the eyelashes. Click in the alpha box on the materials list to activate it, then click on the image button, browse to the directory where your Don texture is stored and you should find an eyelash or Don trans.jpg in there somewhere which is the transparency map needed. Load that and the black bar should disappear showing "lashes" instead. If not play around with the ray depth a bit in the render settings as Cinema 8 has a minor bug regarding alpha channel layering. It can be worked around but takes a bit of fiddling. I'm not familiar with the Don character (not having P5) but it's possible that there's an eyebrow transmap as well - that should show either in the materials options if it exists, apply the transmap to that as well if there is one.

No, keep waiting Numanoid. When the Amiga makes a comeback in 2014 after the asteroid hits, Corel will pull themselves out of bankruptcy and release version 3 for the Amiga. Good news all round really - except I'd have to digging through the attic to find my old Amiga. :) ***Whining did not help all of us poor Mac users get a Mac version *** Well of course not. After they were torn apart in several forums for the PC release there's no way they're going to do the same with the Mac, especially not after large portions of their staff were deserted in the trenches.

***Oh c'mon now...I'm just having a little fun *** There are several threads in this forum, all asking "where is it, I want it now, I'm going on holiday and wanna play with it. Gimme Gimme Gimme." Just like there was when Kupa told everyone that Poser 5 would solve world hunger, world peace and make their breakfast. so I seriously doubt people are going to gripe like they did with Poser 5 I seriously think they will, because that's what some do. As Beryld said, someone is always complaining. In fact there's a complaint thread about V3 because the morphs etc are extra. You can't please all the people all the time and one thing with these types of forums, people love to complain. I know, I do it too. :) Daz won't get bullied into releasing it too early I sincerely hope they won't but I have reason to suspect that the constant "I want it now, I don't care what it's like" comments throughout the overhyped P5 build up was the primary motivating reason that EGI forced CL to release early. No, I've not changed my mind about CL's complacency in the matter but the hundreds of "I want it now" threads may well have been a contributing factor. Didn't mean to jump on you (which I confess it does look like I did) but it gets wearing. People want what they want and they want it now, and if it doesn't work how they expect there'll be festive flames. Pre-release of Poser 5 I was one of those saying "give them time, let them make sure it works" and nobody listened. CL released a diseased dog (which they're still trying to fix). Betcha nobody listens this time either. ;)

Oh what a great idea. Let's do to Daz what the dopey twonks in Poser Forum did to Curious Labs. Nag nag nag nag, gimme gimme gimme. I want it now. And what did they get? Yeah, let's all nag at Daz and nag and moan and bitch and howl how it's not here yet. Maybe that way they can be forced into releasing early so that everyone can shout and scream about what a dog they released. Sheesh. History repeats itself over and over and over. HEY DAZ? Release Studio now, let's get this incessant frackin' about finished with huh? The Hyena's want something else they can savage as crap because they bullied an early release.
Thread: Stupid Question: WHEN!?! WHEN?!?!? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Why can't you import Daz figures into Cinema 4D? It's as simple as any other app and if you have version 7 or 8 you can use mat files to texture them.

I tend to agree with you Fyrespirit, having been on the receiving end of similar emails and abuse. I have finally given up. I was negotiating a deal for a paid website that would cover my bandwidth and some to spare. Would have cost me about 450 dollars a year to run it but with 75gb bandwidth per month I figured it would suffice. After this year though screw it. I've left my freebies at Daz but they're the end of it. Anything I make now goes to friends only or into the 3DArena store for site support (I take no profit). Even that will be a few items only. I'm just heartily sick of the whole thing. If it wasn't for people like Ironbear, Jade, Jackie, X2, Snowsultan, Silvermage, Shlabber, Don Albert, Legume, Bladesmith, jmahoney and a few others I'd wash my hands of this whole damn scene. It's not that it's no fun, more that it's all about the damn dollar and people fucking each other in the ass just to get some, and a couple personalities taking the time to gloat and promote themselves in the mess. I had a plan earlier this year to do something to get me "back in the mood", even went so far as to post a preview here of stuff I hoped would be ready for Christmas. Two full character packs and some other toys and I just built a whole furnished house. But... well. I guess some of it will find it's way into site support. Hey, if I'm going to get abuse and ripped off anyway, it might as well do some good and support my net home, neh? I'm rather lucky in some ways. Most of my stuff is unique enough that it gets noticed when someone tries to sell it, a couple times it didn't but I found out and the thing was removed (this was not at Daz, RMP, 3DC or PP) But really. What's the motivation these days for producing freebies for people? I love abuse when it's directed accurately or done well but not for the sake of it. I don't want people fawning at my feet like they do with some personalities and then there's the wonderful "merchants" who think stealing is ok and that a fast buck is more important than earning it honestly. One would think that they'd have just a teeny bit more integrity. I disagree with the TLC idea, I don't think that's necessary at all. A little gratitude rather than hate would be nice but I can live with that. It's all the rest of the crap. My feelings are summed up at 3DArena so I won't repeat it all here. Welcome to the machine, welcome to the new world. Greed is god and to hell with everything else.

Hopefully not breaking with any protocols as this is intended as a response and example. Marque, easiest answer to your question I think is to show what the members have had and when. Thread: Commercial restrictions on poses? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You'll find - oddly - that the larger majority of "commercial restrictions" are intended to stop people selling things. That's how it started, that's why commercial restrictions first came in. It was discussed to death on this site when the store first opened. Essentially you cannot copyright a "pose". You cannot copyright "sitting with right leg crossed" or "kneeling in prayer" etc because these are common human positions that any human or human figure can attain. It'd be like copyrighting "smile"... Doesn't happen. However, you can copyright a "collection" of poses as that constitutes an art form. But not the points in space or the position used. If there is commercial restriction on a freestuff item then rather than tearing the creator apart for their wishes. Do one of two things. Contact them and ask or just delete the damn thing. Sheesh. Always there's this witch hunt for freestuff. What? You want everything in the store and freestuff empty? An email to ask. Is that really so damn difficult?
