generally I use selective color. what fls said intrigues me, but Im not sure what he means. is he saying get an RGB value with the dropper and then adjust the skin tone with color balance?

yah actually I use the ockham python script and boy is it handy for those GI setups.

the chances of you finding that trans map are nil. There were a handful of cool P4 based characters by zygote like NYW, but they had no support and are basically forgotten by the community. I still enjoy using the p4 figures and make my own custom textures and trans maps for them. So basically, if you want something for this figure, you'll need to make it yourself.

is this error message coming from windows or poser? when somebody is out of virtual memory, that usually means they have an insufficient amount of memory on their hard drive for the paging file. How much free space is their on your hard drive?

after looking at the hair prop in question, I think I know what area you are talking about, not sure because I dont own this. but I can tell you that anything can be hidden with transmapping. also, you can use the grouping tool to assign a new material setting to a group of polygons. and then theres always postwork, where anything is possible. sometimes you just have to roll up your sleeves and dive in, poser isn't always a modular experience.

you can either edit the trans map or use magnets to flatten the areas...I recommend making a new trans map.

looks like vicki2p4, prob a mix of default morphs and a random texture...doesn't look like a character pack.

Phantast has one available at renderotica, its def well made.

for one thing, theres no depth of field. Heres a trick I use in photoshop; go into quick mask mode, select the gradient tool with black/white as foreground background and use the foreground to transparent gradient. Execute the gradient fill from top to bottom in quick mask mode. Then exit quick mask mode and perform a gaussian blur with a setting of 4. You will get a gradual blur that simulates how depth of field is seen by the human eye.

ChaosOutlaw's actions make no sense to me. If you dont like the way a business treats you, don't give them money. Its that simple. You seem to be banging your head against a wall in the hopes that somebody is going to come by and help you. Dont hold your breath. DAZ has lost a lot of quality IMO. Their products have gone from must-haves to half baked. But thats just a question of my personal taste. Im not going to post angry messages in the forum and fight with CS reps demanding "they make cool stuff again". I'll just take my business elsewhere, and better yet, make my own stuff.

poser is a one of a kind program. 3D studio max has character studio, which is probably the only other program designed specifically for figure design and animation. There are many incredible artists designing and animating charactes in Maya,3DS,LW,etc. but none of those programs have the ease of use and low cost of poser. So unless you're trying to make the next Final Fantasy movie in your basement, I recommend you go with poser. Personally, I don't like poser 5. Poser 4 Pro Pack is as powerful and stable as anything one could ask for.

judging someone by whether or not they have an artist page is a mistake, now more than ever. many people have moved their galleries, vendor shops and free stuff to other websites. rosity may be the largest, but it is by no means the only poser site. It does however have the most active forums from my own experience, so you cant blame people for just using the forums and conducting the rest of their activities elsewhere.

it does seem to be a lie by omission. I know how it is when what you see is not what you get. true, some products require a higher learning curve. but IMHO, any product that requires more than a little tweaking is poorly thought out and executed by the merchant. Im not paying for something because I want to sit there for days and finish the developers work, :)

Mungo, I admire your persistence in getting the most out of your renders. As far as items purchased not living up to their promo renders in the MP, would it shock you if I told you that a lot of those promo renders for poser products were rendered in C4D and other high end apps? Some vendors seem to be selling all sizzle and no steak. :)
