Given the choice I would still vote perspective.

We've been suffering a nasty heat wave. Tomorrow we have temps forecasted in the upper 90's with a heat index of 110 degrees! If you ask for a nautical heatwave perspective you'll be sorry because it might be what's left of my melted image draped over the back of a fishing boat! That's as creative as I get in this weather. (And you thought Minnesota was all blizzards!) But seriously, I'm fine with nautical - LOTS of lakes here... heh heh. Actually, I'm fine with anything... I'm on vacation!! Jodie

Yup...You're right. I didn't participate but I remember it. There were some interesting images, too, just not sure how many. Do we want to repeat or try something else?

Perspective would work for me, too. Thanks Nongo for the info and description! Since Valou suggested it I think there would be a great deal of creativity in finding a NEW perspective of typical scenes or objects.

Thread: " straight & constructive comments " | Forum: Photography
I am so glad people are speaking their minds here. I'd like to put in my 3.5 cents, too. My Dad used to say the squeaky wheel gets the most oil. I'd have to say that applies to this place, too. The people getting most of the comments are probably the same ones that jump from upload to upload commenting on each one. Because of this trend I believe Rosity has become more of a popularity contest than a place to come for critique. I realize that the value of each image is a matter of opinion. If you want an image in your gallery, you should upload it. Not everyone will agree with you on the reasons for the upload and that is the beauty of personal art. But when people are expected to hop from image to image just to make an appearance or to leave a non-committal comment, then I start to wonder why I'm here. What bothers me is that there are talented people that feel overlooked. I think it is our obligation to browse the galleries (when we can!) with the attitude that perhaps someone would like to know how to get better. If they don't want constructive criticism, they better check that box! I have actually asked for constructive criticism and then gotten a message that it was distracting to them! LOL You can't win, but sometimes, maybe I WANT to distract you so you'll tell me how to get better. We should all start to appreciate each other's opinions more and put aside the egos that cause people to lash out when they get a constructive criticism. Now that we have the choice of critical and NON critical comments I hope we can use them to everyone's benefit. Thanks for listening. Now help me be a better photographer!! HUGS to you that visit me. I so appreciate your ideas. Jodie

Thread: SOUTH AFRICAN CITIZENS Listen up! | Forum: Photography
Hang on here....!! I did not say HONEY. I distinctly remember it was Maple Syrup! LOL!! My point was that if I was to be invited (as the novelty swede) to this party that we'd have to party until the maple syrup flow filled the bucket. But, seeing as you have NO maple trees (just like I cannot find the north star in SA) the party would go on forever. However, I am sure if I was to sample this mampoer/southern comfort mixture that I would eventually suggest a hunt for said maple tree in the mud. Only thing that would stop me would be that arsenal displayed above! Thanks for the laughs! Jodie

Well.... it sure seems like you all are planning for some fun times!! I am certain you could use a Swedish chaperone - (unless of course, Andreas has coerced someone into letting him bunk in...) Ok...if you don't need another swede for the trip... how about someone to sing around the campfire?? I'll bring my harmonica!! Please?? And besides, I am a hearty Minnesotan so the cold night air won't bother me! In fact, I could do with a little snow to leap into after the sauna! Nooo?? OK... then, I promise NOT to look for silly constellations like... Ursa Major or Minor or even mention the star called Polaris. You said you're meeting in the spring but I also would NOT bring my maple syrup gathering bucket... lol Alright, FIne. I guess I'll wait until someone rallies for a meeting in Chicago or something. "sigh" Kidding! I better quit this message before I am fed to the lions I read about earlier... lol Have fun when you go - And yes, take the cameras. Jodie :0)

Thread: Ebots? | Forum: Photography
It HAS been very quiet in eBot land, lately. I am no longer talking about my SPAM mail, either. Soooo... I have taken to browsing the new uploads just so I can catch my friends new pics AND the uploads of the new people that have arrived. (Great point, Girsempa) I see some very talented people have joined the team here. I still have to get in there and so do more viewing since I am finally OFF more for the summer. I guess the glitches in this system still have some of us missing each other.Â
Would everyone please check back so we can remain here and build the great community we have? While we're at it, welcome the newcomers! (I know some of you do that automatically.)
So, Andreas, heal your wrist and Kimmers, I'm sorry about not getting to your pics but I bet I missed those eBots, too. Marlene I'm off to find a dictionary! LOL (Actually I exist in my own little quagmire...so have a good idea of one. lol)
Have a great week all. Tomorrow is Humpday. :0)

I wasn't getting ebots either but was trying to be patient. (that's not easy!!) Then I checked my spam mail and they were there! I moved them from spam to the inbox and haven't had a problem since. This included both announcements of your uploads and comments on mine. Wierd! Jodie :0)

Thread: Happy Birthday Jodie!!!! | Forum: Photography
You're so kind!
Thank you both for the wonderful birthday greetings. This has been a birthday I will never forget! Gerhard, I think this is the 3rd bday wish from you!! LOL... Those flowers are so simple and beautiful and I think they have an oriental look somehow. Are they forget-me-nots? No worries...I won't forget you! And Doug, you're not late...it's never too late! The redwing blackbird photo is beautiful. My Dad and I used to watch & listen to these birds when we'd go for walks near the marsh when I was a child.
I have been too busy to celebrate, open presents or have cake (or wine?) so I plan to continue the celebration into next week without guilt!
Thanks for the wonderful photo, comments and messages that you've all sent to me to make my birthday so wonderful.

Thank you Marlene! These blossoms are so summery. I can't quite place the flower but I don't think it grows in Minnesota! Makes me wish spring would hurry up over here. Thanks for the bday greetings and I plan to celebrate all week!! HUGZ Jodie :0)
