Thanks AgentSmith. Since I see no mods listed yet for the Wings3D forum here. I wonder who will get the job. (My guess is BazC or Hellborn, but who knows?) The car's at the same webpage that's linked to any of my other freestuff items. So if anyone wants it, it's there. Odds are I'll update it again some time in the future.

Yep... If you're going for a lot of trees, then using 2D planes is the way to go. Unless of course, you don't plan on doing anything else with your computer for a good while.

Now if they get Bryce, watch the next version try to take over all your 3D files and anything associated. Would you like some Spyware with that Bryce? LOL... Errr... D'oh!

Ever consider deleting the default ground plane? Of course it would be blue below, but sometimes this is handy.

Well if someone would provide me with the wood, brads/nails/screws, a router, and a table saw... LOL... I'd have fun trying to make this. Then after that, a bit of sanding, some varnish, and some steel wool should finish it. Hopefully, if I were lucky with the measurements that were made up, humidity wouldn't make the drawers stick. :)

I this book is pretty cool... (Looking at Jane's WWII Fighting Aircraft again.) The profile of the canopy and the glass on the nose definitely makes it a B-26 Marauder. Powerplant: Two Pratt & Whitney R-2800-43 double row 18-cyl engines, 2000 HP each. Armament: Eleven 50 caliber machine guns. One flexible in nose (seen in this pic, the aircraft nose and this gun are what distinguishes this aircraft from others), four "package" guns in pairs (those other guns you see aren't on the wings, but are on pods on the sides of the fuselage), and the rest are on turrets (not seen in this pic.) Heheh... I thought that book would be handy for something.

Looks through Jane's Fighting Aircraft of WWII book Ahh... Here it is, Martin B-26C Marauder Medium Bomber... It would also be cool to have the tracers show if you get around to doing a wider angle shot.

Uhhh, I was pondering something similar about car models (and other items as well)... Would this one be worth $5? Just something I put together in Wings3D. This car is my latest attempt at working out a car design. It's not really based on anything that I know of. However, the wheels on it are based on a real car (2001 Grand Am.) Yeah, it seems funny having Pontiac rims on something that resembles an import. LOL. Now if I could figure out a little bit more about getting the geometry to mesh together for curved headlight shapes, then I just might get interested in modeling the rest of my real car. :)Your friendly neighborhood Wings3D nut.

Thread: A shameless plug... (what else could it be?) | Forum: Bryce
Anyhow... I hope this might help others out there curious to how the image was made. Since I did say that no texture maps were used in the actual rendering. This is a neat way to add fancy coloration to Bryce boolean objects (the surboard is one of those standard boolean presets) which one cannot UV map. Also note that this technique can come in handy for blending together different Bryce materials.
The images above were not necessarily rendered in the order shown, but were used more or less that way during the layering postwork.
1. Background layer. This has the subject hidden during render. This layer was also given a blur for a DOF effect. It was also used again, with a mask of the subject cut out. That way I could remove the extraneous bits (look closely and you'll see the loose polys) that I wanted to remove. (I guess I still have some things to learn when playing with poser and trying to make things posable.)
2. This layer has the subject in it. A mask of the subject was used to remove the background stuff. This was done for a DOF effect.
3-5. Pretty much the same as layer 2. It has the subject, but different colors & textures were applied. Also note that one can adjust coloration, contrast, etc. to these layers independantly. These layers were placed over layer 2. Creative use of masking on each layer reveals the layer below. More or less the airbrush was used with the mask for soft transitions and the draw tool for crisp lines.
6. This layer is a distance mask render. I didn't use it much on the subject itself (I wanted to bring it out more than this mask would show), but came in handy to blend the background layer so a DOF effect can be created. It works by having two duplicate layers. One blurred, and one above it with this mask. Controling the layer strength then controls how strong the effect works. I used this because Bryce 4 doesn't have a DOF during normal rendering. I suppose you could also use this in Bryce 5, if you wanted more control during postwork.
7. This is the mask used with most of the layers above. If you look closely, all the stray bits were removed from the mask itself. I ended up merging this mask with layers to erase everything but the subject. Then later freehand masking was done for the color work.
8. This is the completed, postworked image. Flaws were cleaned up, effects painted on, etc. Basically the result of merging all the layers and seeing what else it needs.

I never did say it was the best deal, it was one of the first ones to show up in the search. But I guess if you're desparate, it would be a place to look - since it appears that they have just about anything.

Thread: Add-Ins (Ons) Real Newb question | Forum: Bryce
Speaking of Bryce objects, I take it that B5 .obps don't work in B4... It would be nice if that was more clear when such things are posted. I was dissappointed that when I went to add some of them that it said error or unreckognized file format. Just so you know, there are still pluggers out there (like myself) who still use the old Bryce. (I'm waiting for the version that has a bit more than metaballs and trees.) On the other hand, I presume that the old Bryce 4 .obps work just fine in Bryce 5?

Hey, other people have done it before. Sorry to offend, besides somebody might be curious to how something was done (Note that no UV maps were used in this pic - not really obvious. So this may make some people curious to how the coloring was done.) Also since gallerys do go by so fast, I figure someone might miss it. At least be happy it wasn't one of countless farie or NVWASIAT (or some variation) pics. LOL ;) P.S. If you don't like something that's blatantly spam, there's nothing that says you can't skip over it. Geez...
