Thank you so much for these and the previous morphs and poses - they're wonderful! Am nagging the husband to pay off something on the credit card so I can get your textures, too! All the fun of having a real horse without having to get up at 5 am to muck the thing out!:))

I just can't get the hang of making tree trunks in a symmetrical lattice (and believe me, I've tried many times!). Any chance of showing us what the lattice looks like, just so I know where to start? Great result you've ended up with there! Huge thanks if you can manage it! Jo

I'd say that it was something about the 'Walk/Don't walk sign being blank - ie, there are no instructions to tell you how to deal with this. That, and looking back to the way things used to be (the rear view mirror). I'm probably wrong, but it made me think!

Just wanted to say thanks very much - it's great, and I've been playing with it all day - though with nothing worthwhile to show as yet (my fault, not yours!)There are so many other uses for it apart from just building towers! Thanks again - it's brilliant!

pidgy - 3 points hyperborea - 2 points nuski - 1 point There were many more that I liked, but those were the three that really 'did it' for me!
Thread: How to start-up with bryce? Do I need to be a good artist? | Forum: Bryce
I've been 'playing' with Bryce for about 6 months now - and I've come to the conclusion that no course, set of instructions, or manual can tell you how to use it 'artistically' - that has to come from within - you have to have a vision of what you're trying to produce, and then fiddle with the various elements of Bryce until you come close to what you intended. I think there's a natural progression in learning how to use the software - first, you just position objects, then you discover Booleans, then you start playing with skies and lighting, then materials - and of course you find all those wonderful downloadable objects to add to your scenes... However, nothing you can find online or in a book will give you the capacity to create Bryce pics that have a 'soul' - that's where the talent bit comes in. If you look through the galleries here, you'll find many, many pics that are technically competent, but which leave you cold. Then again, you'll find pics that have technical flaws, but which speak to your heart - and those are the ones to emulate! I find the Bryce Hot 20 the best tutor there is - trying to analyse why a pic works, what the creator has done, how they manage to overcome the limits of the software to create something unique - something that doesn't scream 'I made this in Bryce' at you - that's the secret. Ahem. That was a bit of a ramble. Sorry about that ;)) Hope it helped a bit, though.

What about a bit of vegetation in the foreground to add perspective and depth? Just a thought - like the misty feel to this!
Thread: What is Tree Pro and where can I buy it from? | Forum: Bryce
Gawd...that's somewhat out of my budget's reach - be easier to buy a real tree and take pics of it..LOL! Thanks for the info, anyway - back to my struggles with the Tree Lab, then...

You could compare it to portrait photography - is it less 'artistic' because your models aren't your own children? ;) Jo

Thanks all! I never think to look in the most obvious places - like CDs (not to mention that the 'puter room is like a small dungheap - with all the important stuff buried at the bottom!) The UVMapper looks like it's going to be a very well used bit of kit here! I am eternally grateful!
