Just d/led the items on my Mac, but Poser crashes when importing any of the .3DS files (running with 350 MB RAM, seems not to be memory problem). Usually Poser imports .3DS (Mac & Win) w/o modification, but sometimes it fails with complex geometry (I guess). Actually the resource fork of a Mac file is a separate .rsr file on WinPC. To get rid of the resource fork on Mac, you can copy the data portion (e.g. text) with text editor and paste it into a new text file. In WinPC you delete the .rsr file. No solution, sorry.
Thread: Magnet Zone Visibility | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
There are separate display styles for document, figure, and element, all listed in the menus. You need the element style if you want to alter the style of only 1 object like a magnet zone.

Incredible! Thanks a lot for sharing. These definitely are a major improvement in posing. Why doesn't MetaCreations document things like these?

Just d/led Anim8or and it works on Mac with Virtual PC 3.0 and Win95. I needed to update some .dll & .lib stuff on the Win95 that came with VPC 3.0. The d/l link for these is on the same Anim8or site (actually Explorer 5 Macintosh Edition couldn't access the site, I used Netscape Communicator to dl). Lots of thanks for the tip and the great tool!
Thread: Looking for Mac OS8 Poser4 and Bryce4 Folder Icons | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hello Peter If you have the application files, you already have the icons. Use ResEdit to copy the icon resources (icl4, icl8, ICN#, ics#, ics4, ics8) from the application file to a new file named "icon", and place the icon file inside the folder you want to style. All icon resources mast have ID -16455. Make the icon file invisible. I don't know if the icons are copyrighted, so I can't send them to you. Don't know if there is a website to get such icons. Sorry.
Thread: Remapping for dummies (long message, sorry) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for your replies. What Nance proposes and PhilC explained on 08/17 in this forum, I tried over and over, it doesn't work. Seems that Poser loads the new OBJ geometry from the modified references in the cr2 file, but the figure is ruined, posing & MT don't work, even w/o UVMapper import/export & modification. Don't know if it's a Mac related problem or a silly mistake (Poser for Mac uses different RSR storage method). Exported OBJ file looks alright (no mtllib & figure lines). Import/Export with UVMapper (Mac & PC) don't help. Thus, I can't use the cr2 reference trick :(
Thread: Are there any good Grouping Tool tutorials out there? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Of course you can, RKane 1. "Share Knowledge", that's what we all do here. I'm looking forward to your work!

I also use the grouping tool to make several copies of a prop: 1. Select the prop to copy. Open the Grouping tool. 2. Click "New Group". Name the new group like you want the prop copies to be named, e.g. "bolt" if you want to make several bolts. 3. Click "Add All". This groups all geometry of the prop. 4. Click "Spawn Props". A copy of the original prop named "bolt" is created. 5. The original prop remains the current object. You reposition it with the appropriate parameter dial, e.g. "xTrans" if you want a row of bolts. 6. Click "Spawn Props" again in the grouping dialog. A second copy of the original prop is created, its name is "bolt 1", its position relative to the first copy is the offset you chose with the "xTrans" parameter dial (Step 5). 7. Repeat the procedure from Step 5 to 6. You'll end up with several copies of the original prop. The copies are named "bolt" to about "bolt 50", and they are positioned according to the offsets you moved the original prop during the copying. 8. Extra tip: If you want a circle of bolts, parent the original prop to a cylinder prop. To offset the original prop during copying (Step 5), select the parent, the cylinder, and rotate it. Reselect the child, the original prop, spawn a copy, and so on. When finished, un-parent all copies, delete the cylinder prop, the copied props remain arranged as a circle. Hope you unterstand what I want to explain.
