Oh my f****ing God! Look at all the Daz supporters coming out the woodwork! Was I just dreaming, or was it only a few months ago EVERYONE was ready to tie Dan Farr up and gut him due to the issue with the morph targets for the Millennium figures. Where were all of you then? My, what short memories all of you have, especially the merchants who were screaming bloody hell. This is the saddest "little" group of people, swaying every which way that the wind blows. All of you are ranting and raving with INCOMPLETE information. I challenge ANY of you to prove me otherwise. Just FYI, it is only a program. There are a lot more serious things going on in the world right now, in case you have not noticed. - Ray
Thread: Poser Products pulled from the store,WHY? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Oh come on... This place can do better than that!!! Where are all the whining conspiracy theorists screaming that Curious Labs, which "as we all know" has secretly subverted every online forum, forced the store to remove Daz products because they "make Don and Judy look bad." - Ray
Thread: Got Poser....can't use it!!!: ( | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Just a suggestion. I know it may be a pain in the butt, but temporarily turn off all "extraneous" programs that are running. This includes programs that show up in your toolbar at the bottom (especially at the botton right). There are some programs that kind of interfere with P5, including firewalls and other networking software. if you can turn of and/or close ALL APPS, try doing the install this way. - Ray
Thread: Where is poser 5 sr-1? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Woohoo. Downloading my copy now (3:11AM CST (Texas) time) while everyone else in the US is asleep. And since P5 is just trickling into Europe, not much bandwidth competition.
Thread: Looking for Poser animations on TechTV's EyeDrops | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well, I have managed to see all episodes up to date (about 11 or twelve) at this time. I must admit, on the whole, to being VERY disapoointed with the vast majority of animations that they show. They really do look like the efforts of high schools students, to ctry to explain it metaphorically. I have a vast collection of 100s of animations that I have downloaded off of the internet (legally) that are predominantly the "show reels" for animation students or are the part-time hobby work for CGI/game developers. Almost all of these are vastly superior to anything shown on Eyedrops. That said, there is the occassional work of genius, which is why I keep watching. - Ray
Thread: Can't get into Renderosity! What's happening? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Actually, the real reason is that the Renderosity site has implemented a new copy-protection scheme to control access, and all of the challenge/responses are overwhelming the site. In addition, a huge and noisome bunch is protesting the creation of the copy protection system, and are adding to the troubles by creating petitions and signing up for bake sales. Overall, it is Microsoft's fault. - Ray

"XP is problematic"? Um, how? What do you base this on? Completely base-less and uninformed opinion. - Ray

What an assinine message. You are assuming this non-existant "program" is going to be the be-all and end-all of applications, just from your tone. You are expecting the first version of an application to come from a company known for making models, not applications, to be bug free and absolutely feature rich? And you are presuming to have full knowledge of all of the capabilities of the application. Please, while the rest of us are using our P4 and P5, you can go back to your "Daz application" and be "creative". - Ray
Thread: how long til your poser 5 was processed? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well, after hearing nothing from CL, I have decided to jump off the train for now. Looks like our next project will have to take my priority, and trusty P4 wil have to serve us through the end of the year. Have fun guys. I am jealous. - Ray
Thread: how long til your poser 5 was processed? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well for me, as mentioned above, it is all an issue of timing. If I can get it this week, I can play with it over the weekend and the start of next week. Otherwise, our next project kicks in and I will not be able to play with it until Christmas. Well, no luck on the end-of-day message for me like JimB got, and my order was only a day behind his, so I guess mine will not be going out. Time to contact Starlet and cancel the order... I hope they will be able to zero out the serial number in the system so that it is not used by anyone else and will be available when I upgrade at year-end. - Ray

Or I could just go to Daz... Damn, not enough sleep. I completely overlooked that. Will check it out, but if you have any pointers to other models I would appreciate it. - Ray

Whbos: Yeah, but you get to miss out on the "Christmas" effect - exploring the new product ASAP! Yeah, it is a shame that CL does not have their online store and shipping act together. This is common with small development/self-publishing development houses. My big concern is that CL is trying to make the step, at least in the mind share of the larger 3D community, with the features of Poser 5. My concern is the bugs and issues that are being turned up by the common users. It makes me wonder what in the hell the beta testers were doing during development. I know they got some of the best and brightest from the community, whose quality of work cannot be questioned. But their apparent use of the software can be. I must admit I do not look forward to the reviews in the graphic publications. I am sure they will be complimentary regarding the features, but will be sure to crucify for the programming errors. My God, it is version 5! - Ray
