I know the plant. To be perfectly honest. Those plants always reminded me of hears. I guess the red color and the petals seemes heart shaped to me. Regarding Georgia O'Keefe. I never really saw her work as sensual or overtly sexual. Although I believe you are right. There are a few where with the correct point of view... However the one which sticks in my mind is the one with a Dried Cow Head Bone and flowers. I never could get her point. Is it life and death, beauty and harsh reality? Any pointers for what am I missing? Besides it's hard NOT to look at an iris and not see something sexual when it is large enough. It's like looking at a sunflower and not seing a sun or a snapdragon and not seeing a face. Ok enough ranting. For what it's worth. To me this flower makes me think of two things. 1. Ilways found insects with that black-green-blue sheen very neat. The only problem is that those colors usually appear upon insect we want nothing to do with. Such as flys and roaches.
