Thanks LD. It's not just the leg IK that's a problem though. I've locked that down to the rotation on the knee joints (cut the knees out of the loop and the legs behave - mostly) Once I find a way of keeping the joint nature in that region of the legs leaving IK on won't be an issue. Neat trick though and not one I'd considered. For a quick fix that's useful. Thanks.

Heh. I got fed up with chasing hard drive space so bought bigger drives. Poser sits on it's own 75gb now along with a variety of models and characters. Funny how much space that program eats up. :) It may be possible to convert the predator, depends how reliant it is on the P4 male mesh and what morphs/additions TBKoen has made to it. I will look at it, and if I can do I'll mail him and ask if it's ok. Might be out of my skill level though. But, no harm looking. :)

Predator? If that's the model I'm thinking of - by TBKoen, it would require a hell of a lot of morph work on Mike to make it right and morphs are not my strong point (unless you're into Cthulhoid monsters). I'll take a look though, it's been a long time since I've browsed Commune freestuff.

As I don't have Poser 5 I can't check what differences there are in the cr2 and what the various new switches are for Poser and/or Firefly. Some of it is internal to the program, some of it may be controllable through the cr2. I was working on a new one, but I'm going to wait to see what Daz studio is like before I continue with that - I'm kinda hoping that Daz will fix the heirarchy situation and allow proper bones to be set along with creating a character file where the switches work as opposed to having one where half of it is non-functional. Mainly I'd like to kill some of that damn body part listing which would have been possible if CL had correctly implemented the "Add to menu" switch to hide/show body parts. Then again I might die of boredom waiting for studio. Who knows? :)

Thanks dj, that's a new one. Could be that's a mesh problem I'll take a look at that over the weekend and see if there's some funky normals in there or something. Raven, the P5 balloon effect is (I think) because of smoothing. I don't know if anyone has the patience to go through and turn smoothing off on all the body parts (there's rather a lot) or find the switch in the cr2 and set that to 0 rather than 1. Turning smoothing off should fix the balloon problem. And that's been my experience so far with Pro Pack... some it works fine for, others have missing body parts or only the left arm appearing. Damned if I can figure out why this happens so randomly.

I wish there was an edit function. You might also want to check this site out and grab the excellent building models by Moebius, perfect for a bladerunner type scene. http://www.axeman3d.co.uk/ Look in the buildings section.

Project Lara is for Vickie 1 and 2. It's available in Animotions Freestuff and 3DArena free stuff from Ironbear. http://www.animotions.com http://3-darena.com There are also various other versions of Lara available in freestuff here (I think) and in 3DC free things at Animotions.

Lightwave offers more bang for the buck, I don't think anyone will disagree with that. However, for the price, Cinema 4D offers a great deal of value for money and shows a new form that offers a growth potential that could rival the higher end packages. For simple user support, expansion, power and plugins out the wazoo, it's hard to beat Lightwave. But, coming up the outside real fast and starting to be taken seriously in industry is Cinema. Both have different scaled learning curves but both are steep. I'd suggest you grab a demo of both programs and try them out, choosing the one that suits best your workflow habits. From a personal perspective I'm inclined to support Cinema, but I've seen some unbelievable stuff done with Lightwave, it's just a little too expensive for me. Lightwave and Cinema both have plugins available for free download from Curious Labs that allow you to import poser scenes. However, once you've gotten into the materials areas of those apps and the lighting capabilities you won't be too fussed over importing poser data just the models. :) Dunno if that helps you any.

Lyrra, that's been one of the bones of contention. Posts have been deleted by mods and admin (most especially by admin) because they contain links off-site or into the RMP. While it doesn't make sense, that's how it's been for a little while now and nobody ever really cleared up what was and wasn't allowed. The example I used with JHoagland was just a recent example. Anyway, seems that someone arrived at a decision. :) Thanks Crescent, nice to see this nailed down in relative terms. Any chance that something to this effect could be added to the forum faq or whatever document it applies to? This post will get buried eventually and it'll be easier to find the outline in something permanently linked from the top. Yeah, I know that means cleaning up the verbiage and stuff, but it would be nice. Anyway, thanks.

Bye bye Davo, I'm sure the other merchants will miss you. I wonder how long it's going to take them to track down the other site and store admin at least two of whom I know are still allowed merchant forum access. Not exactly a secret, their names are on the site staff lists. What a frelling joke. Guys, get a reality check, even I can see the damage you're doing. I find it amazing you can't.

Well there you go, it's not like Scotty actually has to pay attention to anything that goes beyond his own nose and actually know what he's talking about. Why break the habit of a lifetime? It's always amusing when someone waxes lyrical without actually checking what it is they're saying. Heh, same old same old. And the mook of the month award goes to.... The village missing it's idiot.
