best way to see the difference is to add a layer effect like a "stroke" to a layer of TYPE, then slide the sliders for FILL and OPACITY and you'll get it...
umm just like what dreamer said

Thread: Best Resolution for PowerPoint Graphic? | Forum: Photoshop
it some what depends on the method of projection... if i'm presenting it off my laptop i do mine @ 1024 pixels wide x 768 pixels tall (16 bit colour - 92dpi) but then again, that's just me.
it also depends on the graphic style, are you asking "bitmap" images for background? flat colour data charts? 3d graident data charts? a mix of all three?
anyone else want to add?

Thread: Change color | Forum: Photoshop
can you post an example of one of the cels?
as with anything, there are a number of different ways, giving the best solution depends on the style of the artwork.
... i.e. *flat colour versus 3D gradient colour style of art will make a BIG difference!

Thread: photoshop 7 with vista | Forum: Photoshop
i know an individual who has 7 running on a DELL laptop (Vista OS) and haven't heard complaints... then again i don't think she pushs the app to any great extent.
i'll ask about issues, but it wouldn't hurt to try "compatability"
Thread: Brush brightness | Forum: Photoshop
i though opacity too, but looking at the screencaps, you can see the "active" layer is set to 100% so i'm not sure what they mean.
there is a "brightness/contrast" setting in the "adjustment layer"s but again, i don't see that in the screencaps.
can you email the author?? (didn't think to see the creation date of the tut!!!)
sorry

Thread: Vector pen tool (Illustrator / Photoshop) | Forum: Photoshop
hummm. interesting question. I usually use Illustrator for all my vector path stuff. only use the pen tool in PS when it's a simple "quick-and-dirty" request. not sure "how" you would go about it in PS.
my suggestion is to create a closed shape with a colour fill, but you've already done that...
let's see if anyone has a solution.

Thread: k Questions ..help please Textures sites... | Forum: Photoshop
remember,
if you're gonna visit the porn sites to get stuff for skin textures, practice "safe hex" - have your virus defs up-to-date and run a "spyware" detector as soon as you're done!!

Thread: Re-sizing | Forum: Photoshop
click the clear button to remove any previous values entered...
make srue you indicate you want the values to be INCHES (in) not PIXELS (px)
*(though i think it's inches by default...)
*outside of that, if it's still "wonkey", toss your PREF file and let PS rebuild a fresh one @ the next launch.

Thread: CS3 or CS3 Extended | Forum: Photoshop
hi john, not sure if anyones already said this yet but welcome to the forum :)
i use CS3 extended @ the office but haven't really pushed the 3D aspect of it yet so i can't offer alot of pointers but i am very pleased adobe is seeing the need to integrate some of these types of feature sets into PS.
i only hope there doesn't become too many different flavours of PS :)
*(it's hard enough to keep up with the different ways photoshop can be used, and everyones unique needs!!!)

Thread: Best Graphics Tablet | Forum: Photoshop
at the office i have three monitors spanning so i use a 9x12 but at home where space is a luxury i use an old 4x6
i guess it's really a matter of size VS features VS price...
for me, the company paid for the 9x12 so i wasn't gonna turn it down, but at home i was perfectly happy with the pressure /sensitivity level in the 4x6 that the additional price for a 6x8 or 6x11 didn't warrent it.
I'm with Suzanne on this, short of getting "Consumer Report" to tell you which is the best buy, it STILL comes down to personal choices.
Thread: Help! How do I get my on screen brush size indicator back...? | Forum: Photoshop
i wonder what was going through the programers head when he decided to use the CAPSLOCK key to trigger the cursor to change???
...was it "well this'll screw wit their heads!!"
yeah more often than not the CAPS key is the culprit.
Thread: Masking plugins | Forum: Photoshop
can't say that i've used any of the mask plugins you list ( I do it manly by hand, the hard and painfully slow method)...
... hopefully , someone else in the forum can give you some feedback
:)
