I have a track ball and I am having no problems. Two things you can do, remove the ball and clean out the area where the ball sits. The lenses can get very dirty, then clean the ball itself. If neither of those work, then my next idea would be to replace the track ball unit, it is unfortunate but they don't last forever.

I am also anxiously awaiting the release. I went to your web site but couldn't find it. Not that it matters, my primary desire is to get your hair plug-in.

My experience with upgrades is I only needed either the serial number or the install CD. I have not done an upgrade of Adobe, but have done serveral upgrades with anti virus, backup software, 3D software and others. I am trying to remember the last MS upgrade I did. I believe it started from the upgrade ok, but wanted the orginial CD. I haven't bought an upgrade for Win 7, so I don't know how it works for windows now.

My suggestion is try it, what do you have to lose??

I will add my 2 cents worth. Is your system over heating, make sure the cpu has plenty of air flow. You didn't say if this is a desktop or laptop. My experience's with Sony Viao was not good.

For what you are doing you need at least an additional 2 gig of ram. I believe what is happening is you are running out of ram, so the system writes to the hard drive. When your system reaching a point where the system is constantly reading and writting to the hard drive, EVERYTHING slows down, there are tons of errors and at some point the system system says good-night. It's called Disk Thrashing.

There are only two fixes, additional ram and a faster hard drive. Assuming this is a new system, most likely you have slow drive. Under normal usage you would never know it. Most factory drives are 4500rpm, you need 7500 to 10000 rpm. I use 7500 rpm drives, but that is mostly because I can't afford solid state drives and 10000 rpm drives just get to hot.

Start by putting as much ram in as you can afford, 4 gig is good to start 8 gig being the best. If you can go past that...go for it.

Your old system had a cpu that was probably slow enought that you did not see the problem. Especially if you had only 512 meg of ram.
