Thread: WACOM Graphic Tablet Set Up | Forum: Photoshop
make sure you have (download) the latest drivers. don't trust the ones that come with the device... i tossed an old Graphite on my MACbook and it works great for me and i'm running 10.4.10
Thread: Opening RAW files | Forum: Photoshop
hey jack what's your screen resolution (and monitor size ... and manufactuer)?? i'm trying to replicate the problem but haven't been successful in my unsuccess :) scott
Thread: Old/antique cracks effect | Forum: Photoshop
are you looking to add this effect to an object (like a vase or vanity)?? or just to the overall image itself??
Thread: Resolution problem in Photoshop CS | Forum: Photoshop
i always liked IR saving "jpgs" thumbnails because for some reason i often got errors with PS jpg dll. i use CS3 now, so IR is no longer an option... oh well it was good while it lasted :) retrocity
Thread: Photoshop CS3 Extended and Vista Ultimate Edition--Unhappy Togehter | Forum: Photoshop
good research tomsde, let us know if this does in fact resolve the conflict. i agree with lou when it comes to Vista upgrade... best to stick with a "known evil" :) retrocity
Thread: Scanlines | Forum: Photoshop
hey Javil, would it be better to do the scan line efffect within Flash instead of it being part of the image. this way the effect is vector and not pixel (subject to resizing artifacts...)
give it a try and see if it helps

Thread: Bert Monroy. The Master | Forum: Photoshop
quite true jack,
i had the great pleasure of sitting in on one of berts one-day training sessions in pittsburgh this spring. it was tremendous!!!
there is something about being able to see AS he explains that really kicks it up to a new level. He is one teacher that walks through the procedure to shows HOW to achieve an effect and not just the final output
i whole recommend checking out this skillful artist!!!

Thread: layer mask | Forum: Photoshop
hoof's right, masks are part of the editable layer functionality but they don't work for background layers. that layer is locked, unless double-click to make it a "normal" layer...
Thread: Brushes help | Forum: Photoshop
i'd do the brushs on multiple layers (each being the colour i wanted... red orange black...) and mask out the portions i want to hid to allow the underlying parts (colour) to show.
i know, i know, it's easier to see what i mean then to decipher my text!!
like Lew, i'll try to toss up what i mean later this afternoon during lunch or something...

Thread: TextBooks? | Forum: Photoshop
To help train fellow creative dept. personal, i've used the "Classroom in a Book" series by Adobe.
The books contain self-paced lessons designed to fit within busy schedules.
They also have a CD with customized files to guide the readers through lessons and special projects.
I like that they have sample test questions from Adobe's certification exam (if you're interested in pursuing it further)...
Adobe publishes them through "Peachpit" so you know the caliber is up there. you can find them on amazon (possibly even find a good used one for cheap)

Thread: Difference between PS7 and CS brushes? | Forum: Photoshop
PS's new brush engine came into play in ver7 so in CS2 it's not that different, not to say there's anything wrong, it's just they didn't make any drastic changes, only minor tweaks.
bear in mind you still can't go "backwards" with brushs and that's one thing i wish they'd fix, not sure how but it sure would make life easier for me (i run CS2 at the office and ver7 at home which means i do all my brush creations at home - or do it twice)
