Sharen: There are NO registry entries for either Vue 4 Pro or for Vue 5. The only registry entries are the "paths" to the installed location. Both Vue 4 Pro and Vue 5 use the file "vue5.reg" & "Vuepro.reg", found in C:/Windows. Remove them both & try again. If you have Vue 4 (not pro) installed "it" has the following registry entry: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREe-on softwareVue d'Esprit4.0] "Serial"="VUE4-xxxxx-y-xxxxx-yyy" "Upgrade"="VUE3-xxxxx-y-xxxxx" Plus a a file in C:/windows "vue4.ini".... If you open "vue5.reg" with notepad to "look at it", make sure you have word wrap turned off or it will change the formatting, and the program will not open. Once installed (both Vue 5 and Vue 4 Pro) you can safely delete the .reg file if it's corrupted, the only consequence is that when you attempt to open Vue again, it will require you to insert your serial # again, (and upgrade # if necessary), and it will make a new .reg file.

I have my firewall set to block all connections, and I have Vue set to not update or check from within the program. As I understand it, Vue doesn't have "network" copy protection, it uses the Vue4pro.eon file and the Vue4pro.reg file for verification. I prefer to get my updates from eon's web site. Of course I'm possibly a little paranoid, as I allow very few programs to access any DNS servers unless it's absolutely necessary for the program to run. Again, I'm not having any instability problems with the 272334 release, it's very stable even importing Poser PZ3's.

Thread: Instability of Vue 4 Pro? | Forum: Vue
In my experience Vue 4 Pro was very unstable until the release of the 268493 service pack, which seems to have corrected a lot of unstability problems. I'm currently using 272334 & am having very few problems. Open GL turned on, background draw on, Win XP Pro, AMD Athlon XP running at 2 Ghz, 1Gb DDR Ram, and Nvida Gforce FX 5200. I do not do animations and don't have Mover installed, nor have I found it beneficial to turn off my firewall. Of course this is just my own experience, your mileage may vary :o).

Not familiar with Vue 5, but with Vue 4.5 Pro, there is an "old scene converter" program included on the cd that will convert "most" older Vue files so they can be used on Pro. The title is a little deceptive, as it's not strictly for scenes, it works for materials, atmospheres, vob, etc. (old scene converter.exe, 6,158Kb).

Some great ideas, I like the interior room for a castle, ball room, great room, etc. But whatever you choose, I'm certain it will be downloaded and more importantly, be used.
