god yes! NTFS is a big jump in speed. I certainly noticed it in most of my apps. My backup drive is still FAT32 and i had it in a few weeks ago. Also, never underestimate a fast harddrive RPM and disk cache either. RAM i'm not so sure about, i went from 2 gigs to 4 gigs and Poser didn't seem to care at all. Pretty bummed about that.

what about virtual memory? I have read several times where people say "try increasing the amount of virtual memory" given to Poser? I have yet to figure out how to do this in XP. This is a great thread and i hope an answer to that question can be posted by someone friendly also.

all of my emails sent to Rhetorical are returned as undeliverable:( If anyone finds out more, please post.

I have emailed Rhetorical asking them, but I don't see one mention of the word SAPI. Also worthy of finding is InfoVox Heather. The 22k voice is really spectacular. http://www.acapela-group.com/demos/desktop.asp

PoserSpeak is active and works with Poser4, Poser 5 and Poser 6. It is also one third of the cost of textPuppet and one fifth the cost of Mimic. It is not an alternative to Mimic however. PoserSpeak generates (records) a wav file based off text you type. Mimic works with existing wav files you import. Hope this helps and warm thanks to Little_Dragon for mentioning me:) james true 3dtrue.com
Thread: PoserSpeak on Sale Has anyone used this Plugin'? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I just saw this post :) Sorry you missed the sale Mizrael. You can still get PoserSpeak off of my site for $42.00. The sale yesterday had it at $38.00.
You are absolutely correct about the Microsoft Text2Speech wav thing. If you are comfortable with Mimic and prefer using this powerful program, you could just make your own wav files. There are a ton of free examples out there using the speech SDK. You could write a simple wav generator for free. PoserSpeak does so much more than generate wavs, and you would be wasting your money if the wav file was your only goal.
PoserSpeak is currently not an alternative to Mimic. It does things Mimic cannot do and it doesn't do things Mimic can do. Mimic works with raw sound data, PoserSpeak actually works off viseme and phoneme values output by the Speech API. Disney created the 21 viseme facial gestures which PoserSpeak utilizes. Additionally, PoserSpeak is not head, or morph specific, meaning a wide variety of morphs can be animated with it.
I have big plans for PoserSpeak in the future, i would state them here but it seems unprofessional to say what it will do until i have actually released it. I am not Daz, its just little ole me and i'm a typin as fast as i can:)
Thread: Darcassian Speaks! | Forum: MarketPlace Showcase
guilty! i just bought him too. I must animate and only buy characters with mouth morphs. This guy is cool and its about time we had a chance to thank x2000 for all the great free stuff donated over the years. P.S. Speaking of talking... Darcassian also works with PoserSpeak found in my store. Link excluded to avoid shameless self-promotion.

John, I just saw your review!!!!!!! thank you so very much for taking the time to spread the word. cheers, jtrue
Thread: PoserSpeak is Aiko3 Complete ready | Forum: MarketPlace Showcase
John, i was hoping you got your copy up-and-running. Glad to hear you like it thanks! No, no revision is out. I just finally bought the Aiko morph pack yesterday for myself and was able to try it out with PoserSpeak. Before, i was relying on other folks telling me it worked with Aiko. Now its official! P.S. When a revised version does come out, i will email you directly. That's why i had to bother you upon purchase for an email address. Anyone with a valid copy of PoserSpeak is entitled to a free upgrade.

Thread: Poser Softness Maps... what the heck is that? A good idea? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
me too! another thought would be you could define a dummy morph to hold your softness value. This could be set to 2 or 5 for example depending on your body part. A python script could read this dummy value as the softness level. I think i would like gravity to be a big factor as well. So two forces really, gravity and the other object. Seems doable to a limited degree. But it also seems a simulation setting is unavoidable. just my 2 measly cents.

sorry you felt like i was mad, i have re-read my post several times and i'm not sure how you got that impression. Thanks for the ideas, I actually have a beta version going of PoserWav. But it's PC too. Again i figured someone with a pc without Mimic might read this and appreciate knowing their is an alternative. cheers, james
