Thread: Reality Render thread. A new beginning. | Forum: DAZ|Studio
I love Genesis for when I want to create something not so human. It has some amazing options for making different creatures and alien type stuff. I've also had better luck getting realistic looking women with it, V4 seems to have some morphing issues whenever I try to add a bit of weight to her.
For everyday women I usually go with V4 because there are so many great, cheap morphs and skin for her.
I like the updates on V6, hands and expressions stand out as a big improvement so far, but I wouldn't recommend for anyone to spend money on it if you're already happy with V4 or Genesis.

Here's a quick comparison of V5 (left) and V6 (right) with no changes made to either. Just double clicked the base figure of each, applied the Bree skin to each (there was a "V5 Bree All" in the material folder for Gen1 and "Bree All" in Gen2, not sure if there is any difference besides the naming), then applied the same pose to both and gave them both the same hair.
My observations:
V6 is taller
V6's breasts seem more naturally affected by gravity
V6 has an uglier face
doesn't show here, but after experimenting I seem to be able to get more realistic and natural facial expressions for V6
the same preset pose applied to both, but the hands came out different. I'm guessing that's one of the areas that had some major changes in the model.
Conclusion: I don't see any huge leap from V5/Genesis where everyone needs to get this right now, but I do like the other V6 characters that came with the bundle, especially Norma who I'm using in another render right now. I'll post that when it's done.

Quote - Maybe they'll pull the coffin nails back out when R3 for Studio comes to light (cuz this place is Dead!)
I'm still here reading, but I have nothing to post lately. Every time I open Daz I either stare at a blank screen, or start something that I hate 10 minutes later.

How do I get rid of the seams between his shoulder and chest? I had this issue way back and don't remember what I did to fix it besides using a different skin.

Quote - Cool was wondering where you been...
I've been reading the forums, but haven't had much to post. When I do mess with 3D it's mostly been Cinema 4D, I had a few failed Daz renders that I gave up on and never finished. Overall, I'm just not motivated or feeling creative lately and spend most of my free time playing games.

Been playing the Marvel Heroes MMO and got inspired to do some Marvel renders. Captain America and the Hulk coming next.

No inspiration at all these past few weeks, but I managed to squeeze this one out just to do something.

Look at those images on the product page--nowhere near the quality you can get with Reality. When I first got the email from Daz promoting this I was a little annoyed, but after checking it out some more it doesn't compare.

Quote - > Quote - Garibaldi is working with Reality? I was playing with the beta and the last version I used was 3Delight only.
It does.. but not out of the box. Read the threadon the Daz forum. It takes you through all the steps.
From inside Garibaldi, you need to export the hair as an OBJ. Then convert that to a morphable Genesis asset. Save it, and merge it back in.
In Reality you need to use a metal shader and a glossiness of 6000 or so.
Garibaldi is really really easy to use.
**The best way to describe it is that Garibaldi is to hair, what Reality is to renders. ** That Mohawk Hair was designed on the default Genesis Head. I Morphed it to Anubus after all that, then rendered it in Reality.
There are issues with Reality renders. There are a lot of hairs on a head, and Garibaldi exports an OBJ as individual hairs. Long hair generates huge OBJ files. You only get one shader per OBJ in Reality. So you may want several flavors of the same hair for more detail.
On the plus side I didn't notice any performance issues with the render at all.
Sounds like too much work.
I have Interposer for Cinema 4D so it's probably easier to just import a Daz character into there and make hair in C4D.

What did you use for the grass?
There was a tent and pavillion that were free on Daz a few months ago, and it's the ground that came with those.

Quote - I love the rain, except for something like Sandy, so I made this render. Let me know what you think. On my screen it looks right, on my husband's it's way too light. Not too sure what to do about that.
Well...on my screen it's a little too dark. Someone needs to calibrate their monitor but I don't know who.

Quote - > Quote - LuxRender 1.2 has been officially released. Download it NOW!
Well, it's not working for me. Should it be named ".app" at the end? It isn't. Should I add that on? There's no icon, for the Mac version at least. Can't add it to the dock. When I double-click to open it, it opens in Terminal.

Are you sure you got the Mac version? It's about halfway down the page under all the different Windows ones. It downloads a .dmg for me (but I'm on a PC so I can't actually try to run it).
