Not that the books I know of might show those particular effects, but I have really found the Photoshop Wow! books to be very informative and helpful when trying to create certain effects. If your local library/bookshop has them available you could see if they fit your needs. Also searching Photoshop tutorials online might help you find the particular effect you are want.
For example, I found a tutorial for fairy lights that might come in useful.

Well, those particular lemurs live in a game park; so they are sort of tamed. They are used to people, but still not too sure about it. However, they will do anything for a banana, including sit on your shoulder. :) I think the Silverkey monkey could be modified enough to look like a reasonable lemur.

Hi Arcadia,I'm sorry if I was confusing or steered you wrong. I know that for myself, I learn alot better by seeing what it is I'm supposed to be doing. So I made a quick and dirty .pdf tutorial on making patterns and flood filling them. In the meanwhile, I would suggest you forget that .pat files and the PostScriptImages folder exist until you have the basics of Photoshop down.
Hope the tutorial gives you more of what you are looking for.

.ai is the Adobe Illustrator native file extension; .pat is the Photoshop pattern file extension as you found out. As to the pattern question, when you save a pattern you will find it one of two places. 1. under the edit: fill tab. Once you have selected the fill tab, a menu comes up, and you can scroll down to pattern, if you want to do flood fills. 2. Or the pattern stamp tool. Then you can see and select the pattern you want.
Ultimately I think you need to save your patterns as .pat files. Hope this helps...

This is my attempt at fixing the photo. The arm, sleeve, and the cymbal set almost made me tear out my hair. Have to admit, what I now think is a glove, baffled me for quite awhile. Thought it was some sort of strange pipe shutoff, at first. Anyway I'll try and put up the large picture later. Also found a pretty good tutorial about how to fix color casts to photos.

EvilInnocence has a free one, somewhat like what is worn in the photo. Except the sleeve is long, but it would work in a pinch. Hope you find what you are looking for.Edited for goofs.

The shoes look like a variety of a Scottish medieval shoe called a "Ghillie". The link has a few pictures of these in various styles. I would love a poser version of them.Thread: Can you guess? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
