One of the problems you are going to run into is that some services wont host sites that have nude images - even if they are tasteful and artistic nudes. There is a movement away from that right now. If you are going to offer merchandise for sale, you will also have to contend with PayPals restrictions (or those of any alternate payment service you select). I run a site with mildly adult content that gets about 2,000 hits per day, so bandwidth is a big issue for me - as well as having an open-minded hosting company. I strongly recommend Cheapbandwidth.com. They supply my considerable bandwidth needs as a low cost, their service has been superior, and they dont care what I put up on my site. Best of luck in your endeavor - sounds like wonderful fun! --Invidia
Thread: Poser Artists: How do you work? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Use those camera and pose dots! They are your friends and will save you a lot of time you are spending saving your pz3 - not to mention hard drive space. (Have you taken a look at your pz3 files - their size will amaze you.) I also recommend rendering in draft mode, changing, rendering in draft mode again, etc. Until you get close to your final render, don't bother with shadows, raytracing, and that sort of thing. You can make adjustments to them last, and this will save you a lot of rendering time. I tend to pose my figure first, then add in my textures, clothing, and hair. I add in my backgrounds last because they take up so much screen space and slow down render times. I don't know if that addresses your question or not, but I hope so. :) Best Blessings, --Invidia
Thread: Any Experts on Injection Pose Builder? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I installed the body morphs on the character of course, and I checked off the little box for Body when I created the INJ pose. And no, I dont have the latest version of it - but the version I have supports V3 and Im using standard V3 morphs. Thanks for your reply. --Invidia
Thread: Is My Hair Model Too Complicated For The Market ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Woweee!!! I think it's utterly fabulous! I would love to have a product like that even if it were a tad complicated to use. I strongly recommend including a lot of poses with it though, so folks who aren't so adventuresome as myself would be able to get a lot of good use out of it without having to worry about the complexities of it. This will encourage people to buy it and to leave you positive feedback too. And I warmly volunteer to test it for you and give you my opinions. I'll happily trade you some products in my store to compensate you for it. :) Best Blessings, --Invidia
Thread: Poser 5 question..... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Eventually I decided to move all my P4 files over into P5 because, thought P5 will recognize them, it often takes a long time to do so and causes enormous delays. It could be because I just had so much stuff in my P4 folders, though I dont know for certain. I recommend moving your files over. You could take the opportunity to clean up your Runtime and get rid of worthless items, extra images, extra RSRs (or PNGs), and all of that. Yes, it will take you forever to do - but it will be worth it IMO. Best of luck! --Invidia
Thread: Background colour resets to Grey! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I had this problem awhile back and some folks here helped me solve it. Go into your preferences and set Poser to load the factory default settings. Once youve done that, you should be able to change your backgrounds again. Then you can change your settings back to your preference again. This also fixed a problem I had just recently where my Pose Dots wouldnt show up on the screen at all. I changed to factory default, loaded, then changed back. Problem solved! Hope that helps you too. Best Blessings, --Invidia
Thread: Where is the line drawn? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
"Character concept is an art in itself, and many people are hard working on making a character look just right. It's just as hard as making the 3D mesh, texture, etc... IMO." I didnt mention character concept at all. Im talking about outfits - tops, skirts, leggings, boots, etc. And yes, no doubt quite a lot of work goes into that. I didnt say it was easy (though some outfits are certainly easier than others), I said I thought it was the easiest part of the process. That is still my opinion. I have a friend who is an editor, and as such she hears a lot of people who have these wonderful ideas for books and screenplays. The people always swear her to secrecy because they dont want their idea stolen. This makes her laugh because, as they say in the business, "the plot is the cheapest part of the book." Yes, original ideas take time and creativity, but they are a far cry from the actualization of a movie/book/3D model. Which is why I brought up the question in the first place: Can the concept for an outfit be copyrighted? I dont think the answer is yes, though characters can be trademarked so particular outfits probably can be as well. Best Blessings, --Invidia
Thread: background questions | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I agree with Ockham that the best way to use a background is to apply it to a square. The only problem with that method is that you can sometimes have problems with shadows. (For example your character casting an enormous and unlikely shadow on the Leaning Tower of Pisa.) You can disable shadows in order to solve that problem. Or you can use backgrounds the basic way. The way to load a background is from: File, Import, Import a Background Picture. Dont forget to enable backgrounds when you render. (From your Render Options screen) However, one big disadvantage to loading backgrounds this traditional way is that you will probably have problems with the background becoming pixelated when you render it. Six of one half a dozen of the other. I included a background tutorial with my background sets - Watercolor Backgrounds and Asian Watercolor Backgrounds. If I werent twelve thousand kilometers from home right now, Id offer the tutorial to you for free. :( Hope Ive helped rather than confused you. Best Blessings, --Invidia

Thread: Where is the line drawn? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Can the style and cut of an outfit be copyrighted? Thats the question in my mind. I mean, yes - the two outfits are very very similar. But that doesnt mean that anyones copyright has necessarily been violated. I draw ideas from things I see around me all the time - magazines, shop windows, people on the street. We all do, dont we? The person who did the 3D model still had to tediously create each piece himself, texture it, and test it. That sounds like a lot of hard work. The concept of the outfit was the easy part IMO. Now, if Daz had taken someone elses model and changed it slightly, or had taken someone elses textures and modified them - that would be an obvious violation. But the cut and style of clothing is a much more nebulous area, and to be honest I hope we never get so picky that we cant draw inspiration from the outfits we see around us. Otherwise, we all have to become fashion designers in addition to modelers, texturers, renderers, and artists in our own right. Not to be contrary at all - just my thoughts. Best Blessings, --Invidia
