I checked into it and found that the two animated ads we have in rotation currently are the two mentioned here in this thread.

We do allow some leeway with animated ads for the sidebar, however we do evaluate each ad before they are put into circulation to avoid the very distracting, flashy and needlessly attention-grabbing ads.  We do this to give vendors some flexibility with their ad design without irritating the community as a whole.

While any type of animated ad can be a distraction for you, I can assure you that they are a very small part of our advertising inventory, which means you will not be seeing them very often.  However, if you do come across an ad you find distracting I would recommend just a quick refresh of the page (if you are able), which will load another ad on the sidebar for you.  If you can't refresh the page, you can right-click on the ad itself and uncheck the option to Play.  That will stop the animation within the ad.

I hope this sheds some more light on why we allow certain animated ads, and how you can avoid them rather effortlessly when you see them.  If you have any other questions don't hesitate to let me know.

I'm not sure what could be the issue there.  The newsletters complete their sending the same day they are scheduled to go out.  And I'm not sure it's an issue with Gmail because I am receiving the newsletters at my Gmail account in a timely fashion.

They hit the archive as soon as they are sent out, so you can always check on Wednesdays and Saturdays for information.

I believe the logo on the front page you are referring to is the Circle R logo that Renderosity has provided for use in this contest.  That was not something that was created by an individual entrant.

We are actually encouraging everyone who enters the contest to integrate the Circle R into their designs.

I would avoid using merchant banners specifically, since it's difficult for you as an affiliate to track and edit banners for specific products. Also, based on conversations with some of our older affiliates, ads that lead to the site homepage perform much better than specific product ads. Those are legitimate banners.  They are hosted by a different image server, that's all.  If you click the banner it will take you to the appropriate product page.
