Another free alternative that works great is ZipGenius.Thread: Firefly Settings | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If your computer chokes with these settings, lower the Max Bucket Size to 32 (or, in extreme cases, 16). This will not affect render quality, it only controls how big a chunk of data Poser processes at a time. Lower setting = less memory consumed but longer rendering time, higher settings means exactly the opposite.
Thread: Natural, everyday poses? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have found that the poses delivered with Poser 5 works pretty well for everyday situations. If you are running Poser 6, they are in the folder named "Poser 5 poses", I think. They are made for Don and Judy, but with a little tweaking they usually works for DAZ figures as well. They are never exactly what I want, but I often use them as a starting point to work from. The poses delivered with e.g. Mike and Vicky are useless, since they depict pretty weird situations. (Has anyone used the DAZ "contraposto" pose unless you try to render a Shakespeare actor on stage? LOL)
Thread: A 5 Step Process in Getting over your DAZ addiction | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I tried, but I got problems finding the correct Material Room settings for the sky.cr2 figure. Furthermore, I got a dialog box saying "This is not a valid Poser file" when trying to load the prop "Earth.pp2". What did I do wrong?
Thread: Making INJ morphs | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If you want to make an INJ Pose using only standard morphs from the morph packs, you can use DAZ Injection Pose Builder, available for $1.99 if you're a PC member. Very easy to use, you just let it process a cr2 you have prepared with the necessary morphs and dial settings and you'll get an INJ Pose file as the result.
Thread: DAZ Down? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
There is a thread further down indicating that everyone is having problems logging in at DAZ. Right now, their server is not responding at all. I can't even ping it... Maybe they took the entire site down while trying to fix the problem!
Thread: My library - Help - I can see stuff in my browser but can't find in P6 library | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This looks as a seriously messed up runtime and it's no wonder you have problems navigating in it...
The one on the left is the default Poser 6 runtime you will find when opening Poser. You should be able to find the one on the right as well (the "Downloads" folder), but since a number of files appeared to have been installed wrongly, I suspect that many files will remain hidden unless you move them.
If you open the folder "libraries" in the runtime on your left (the one directly under the Poser 6" folder), you will see folders for Poses, Props etc that corresponds to the library in Poser 6. This is what you see when opening Poser 6.
Now open the folders "librairies" and "libraries" in the "Download" folder. You will find similar folders in there. My suggestion is to take all the files in these folders and move them manually to the corresponding folders in the "libraries" folder in the runtime you have directly under "Poser 6".
Also do the same for the folder "geometries": Move all files in "geometries" found in the "Downloads" runtime to the runtime you already have directly under "Poser 6". Just make sure that the subfolders under "geometries" are intact. Otherwise, Poser will not be able to find the geometries when you load stuff in Poser.
Finally, move all textures to the folder "textures" under the runtime directly under "Poser 6".
In the future, install Poser downloads into the runtime by moving files manually, much safer...

Thread: How to change the white little guy thumbnail which represents a material | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The explanation you have in the picture is pretty old, it applies to Poser 4 which used .rsr thumbnails. This made it somewhat complicated to create missing thumbnails.
Poser 6 uses thumbnail in .png format. This means that you can easily render any picture you want in .png format and use it as a thumbnail. Just make sure that the size is 91x91 pixels and that it has the same name as the file you want it to be a thumbnail for.
Example: You want to make a thumbnail for a character you have saved as a .cr2 file. The character is named mycharacter.cr2.
Render a picture of the character according to your liking with a render size of 91x91 pixels. Save it as a .png file with the name mycharacter.png and put it in the same folder as the .cr2 file in your runtime directory.
Thread: Question about Bytes | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Since everyone is being picky with numbers here, I can be picky with another thing:
It's kB, not KB
Maybe that is easier for us Europeans who actually use the "k" prefix for other things than bytes... ;-)
(1 km is 1000 meters etc.)
Thread: How to manually install all files from a zip correctly to poser 6 ie. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I usually unzip to a separate folder on the desktop and then move the files manually into the runtime. The reason is that I seldom agree with the creator of the zip file on where to place the files, I want to have my own folder structure in the runtime that suits my needs. Leaving the organization of my runtime to the various personal whims of a multitude of Poser content creators will create a very messy runtime over time!
Just make sure that the .obj files are ALWAYS placed exactly where the zip file tells you, otherwise you can place files according to your own preference in each main folder (Character, Pose, Lights etc) in the runtime library.
Thread: My P6 texture and bump maps don't render in P4? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Furthermore, bump maps need to be converted to .bum format to render in Poser 4, .jpg format will not work.
Thread: White Hair! Help! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have experienced this problem with Grace Lion Hair in Poser 6 when I used the "Transparency Off" MAT file and the turned transparency on again. To fix it, I had to re-apply the MAT file with the desired texture after using the "Transparency Off/On" MAT files. I don't know if it has any bearing on jt411's problem, but it started happening to me in Poser 6 and it resulted in white hair.
Thread: My 1st lighting try.. Inside a dark closet with no lighting.. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Nah... It will look much better (blacker, that is) rendered in Poser 6. Just wait and see!
Thread: My 1st lighting try.. Inside a dark closet with no lighting.. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well... The Enquirer has as much credibility as this thread, so it won't make much of a difference ;-)

thixen, that's probably why Ashcroft hasn't moved in on this therad yet... He's afraid that the picture will become headline news... Better keep it hidden in an obscure 3D community such as this!
