Thanks again for a great piece, Ed. At the risk of saying something that probably should be in another forum, I just noticed you've got a combined offer on all of your CDs. Woo-hoo!! Thanks, bud!!!
Thread: A question about Warez in FreeStuff... a personal rant. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
JS apparently starts with the basic Poser hair props and then reworks them, much as Koz did with Male Hair 2 and 5, and apparently he reworked Anton's Magic hair as well. All links to his materials seem to have gone, which is a mixed blessing IMHO, as his body texture work was very different and very styled. I'm gonna say it again: in his case, I think we're looking at naivite more than wholesale deception. JS is, as far as I know, new around Poser circles and quite possibly didn't understand the restraints.

I missed that thread, so I'll check it out. Thanks for the heads up, guys. But I still think we should give JS (the hair guy) a little slack on this. Show him what he did in error and give him the chance to correct it... which he may have already figured out since the links are apparently now gone.
Thread: One last texture Plz. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Not to sound callous, but isn't that a pretty simple texture to make? If there's no specific geography involved (like, you're not recreating Earth), it can be banged off in Photoshop in less time than putting up the post here.

I can't speak to Luna's stuff because there's nothing put out there in way of proof one way or the other by either her or Anton -- maybe if someone put up a side by side comparison of the actual meshes? Insofar as JS's hair work, my guess is that in his case it's more naivite than wanting to put something over on the community. He probably saw what Koz did with two of the male hair props and decided to do something similar, not knowing that doing it with Anton's was over the line. In this case, I'd cut him a bit of slack after advising him of what he did in error. But another poster raised a good point: there are literally hundreds of things uploaded to freetuff every week, on top of the already thousands of items in existence. You'd have to have an extremely sharp eye and an incredible memory to be able to recognize everything when a copyright violation comes through. My recommendation, Anton (assuming you're even inclined to take one from me), is that you put up the side-by-side images and make your case to Admin. If it's that blatant, you know they'll ban Luna -- they've done it before to others. Just my suggestion.
Thread: Posette Vs. Vicky -Creating a new figure for free- | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
lets face it all Posettes look like Posette Been to the galleries in the last year or so? Pretty much all Vickies look like Vicky. I'm with vilters on this one: the combination of the obj and the cr2 makes V3 a real resource hog. Couple that with Poser's sometimes faulty memory allocation, and you have real problems. I'm thinking something along the lines of Burton's Posette 2003 would be great, because it gives you adaptability as well as a smaller file size. And yeah, most of the stuff for Posette is free, while Vicky's requires a credit card. I don't see that changing.

Yeah, it's interesting, that's for sure. The cat and the dog are pretty fine, but there's something about that fish that's South-Park creepy. :)
Thread: Library thumbnails show 'dots', not rendered objects?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Nothing at all. That's how they show up when you use transparencies because Poser is taking a screen shot of the pre-rendered document. For the textures, make sure you're in the correct viewing mode before loading it into your library,
Thread: "Concern about MP item" | Forum: Community Center
What eludes me in all this -- and forgive me if this sounds like a silly question -- but who's monitoring this stuff before it hits the MP? Supposedly you guys run a product through tests to see if it's MP-ready; isn't there a similar mechanism to check the ad pages before they're released? And insofar as oh stfu already... not a wise response, IMHO. Orio makes a good point about cross-border cultural differences: if the breakdown is a difference in the perception of what is or isn't a "child", then maybe the upload page needs to make it clearer for non-Americans to understand the situation on this side of the ocean?
Thread: "Concern about MP item" | Forum: Community Center
It's an unfortunate world out there, guys. You may not have any issue with the images, but there are people out there so obsessed with this that they'll whack off to photos in Sears catalogues -- which is pretty much why Sears doesn't show products like that any more. And yeah, Rsity has to follow the rules with a leaning towards the "safe" side of things. These days, they just don't have a lot of choice.
Thread: Looking for a Greek Helmet | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
AND there's a site out there somewhere (LD, save me here!) that has a full Greek warrior along with all props and a set of poses. I came across the figure last night in my archives, but there was no read-me in the folder. If I remember right, the same site has an Indian maiden: same thing -- full outfit, set of poses and props. Is this ringing a bell for anyone?

I have found that no matter how I pose my hunky guy models they often look kinda gay You say this like it's a problem. :)

In the Land of Vickies with Helmets and Swords, you can't find one? :) Did you check Freestuff? There's gotta be a dozen there, at least. If you're looking for historically accurate, PoserStyle has one, but it's not for free. But if all you want is the effect, there must be scads of them out there.
