Could also be the bump map if you are using one - can't tell from here. But have a look on it. Over the eyebrows of some bumpmaps is an area of unifom gray. Do some painting there or clone from the areas around it - this solves the problem usualy. Bye, Arthur

Thread: Help! W 2000 New Box-New System-New Problems! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well, the file system is definatly not your problem. You can copy from and too Win98 partitions as you wish there is no problem with that. Out of my experience you can copy the whole Poser directory from one drive to another as long as you leave its internal structure alone. Never had that kind of problems before... But I have a question: Did you install W2K over on previous installation of Win98 - if so forget it! Best you do in this case is reinstalling from scratch after formating your boot drive. And check if all copied files are marked read AND writeable. Hope it helps - maybe with a bit more info... Arthur.

Too much praise datastorm, too much praise. Go to the galleries and you see some realy great stuff. But thanks anyway ! I am still much more an engineer than an artist :-) Always seeking the perfection... Arthur.

Two comments on the Windows OS: 1) Windows 98/ME do not handle huge memory requests well. This is noticable with many progamms that are using temporarily AND frequently huge amounts of memory. In some cases the programs are the ones that do not clean up the memory as they should, but rather often the memory manager of Win98 can be blamed for misbehaving. This is especially true when the system is extensivly swapping, cause of lack of real memory. 2.)To make it short: In always any case the problems disapear if Windows 2000 Pro is installed. IMHO this comes from two reasons. First the memory manager is much more stable under heavy system loads AND the NTFS file system used under NT/Win2000 is much more robust as the FAT32 system used by Windows 98/ME. Thus it survives crashes of programms by far better. 3.) Always check your filesystem after a crash (!) AND clean up temporary files. If you do not - you'll make any problem worse than it already is. NEVER BOOT OR WORK FROM AN UNCHECKED FILE SYSTEM AFTER A CRASH - NEVER EVER !. 3.) The recomendations from Wizzard and hauksdottir are realy good --> because saving over the same file almost ever results in a loss of the old AND the new file, if something goes wrong. 4.) I am not a "Microsoft Man" - and they do not sponsor me in any way (Quite the opposite: If I have the choice I go for UNIX )
Thread: Vickys sweater and morph target for chest. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for answering jnmoore, but I this is not the cause. There is only the sweater loaded the time I added the targets. But very good thinking on your part (hope this is the right phrase ?), cause I didn't thought about that. I will dive in that matter again next weekend - no time right know .-)) Bye, Arthur
Thread: RDS Update from 5.5 or Carrara: where can I get one ? | Forum: Carrara
Thank's for your help ! I got a copy of RDS 5.5 at purplus for 79 USD. The only thing that drives me nuts is that shiping is by UPS wich charges 65 USD extra and the current USD/EURO exchange rate is extremly high. But I am happy to get my problem with 5.0 solved and I think it is worth the money anyway. Have a nice day, Arthur.
Thread: RDS 5:create groups/parts in mesh modeller ? | Forum: Carrara
Thanks you both for your efforts ! Your picture wyrwolf was the proof of what I was guessing all the time: All I need an upgrade from RDS5 to RDS5.5. [IRONIC SMILE ON MY FACE] And this is as far as I could tell is a big problem on itself. Is someone selling his package ? Hints on the new problem ? Wish you a good day, Arthur.
Thread: RDS 5:create groups/parts in mesh modeller ? | Forum: Carrara
Thanks wyrwulf and Clint ! I did read Bushi's Tutorial before and his method of slicing a model in the MFM does not work for me. I guess he is using another version of RDS because there is no menu item "Naming Polygons" in my selection menu. I must state that I am using a german version, so the name itself might be different. But I tried all reasonable menu items after selecting the vertices, but not one worked the way Bushi is describing in his tutorial. The same naming problem occurs with your tip also, Clint. Please could you tell me wich version of RDS are you using, to check if an upgrade solves my problem. Thank you again ! Arthur.
Thread: Joint Params. Please read if you are a bad-ass rendering machine. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hello hoborg! Just a question: are you using the US Version of Poser4 on a non US operating system? For example on a German system ? If that's the case, look at the comma in the joint parameter values. It have to be a point NOT a comma ! BTW, I rate this as a real bug. The solution is to either set the points manualy in all fields of the joint parameter dialog, or to set the comma to the point representation in your operating system. Dont't know about the Mac's but helps on Microsoft's OSes. Bye, Arthur.
