cagewench:) how perceptive you are :) Yes I was refering to comments you had made and the "tar and feather" response you seemed to get from them. Your comment didn't deserve the lashing out you took over it. I do truly believe that if someone doesn't want any kind of critique they need to disable the comments. I don't need to be told what I should or shouldn't say in my comments about anothers work as long as I am polite and civil....so I will continue posting what I want to say, regardless of whether or not is what others want to hear. I hope you do the same:)

Jumping in REAL late here..... Yanno, I noticed there was a complaint about a critisim someone gave another artist about their render. The critique was in good taste, nice and polite and while it was constructive critisism, the person who commented also pointed out the good as well. By the way the artist and some had taken the pros and cons of the work, it was the end of the world, and in their next piece they claimed how they were going to disable their comments, all because they felt they were being picked on by that one comment. Surely the only purpose in marking the comments box isn't to get glowing praise. Personally, thats why I mark the comments box. Not that it isn't nice to get praise, but it is also very nice to hear how I can improve. Sure there are going to be people who take it to a whole new extreme on both sides...people being too touch about a comment to improve, or someone being completely anal and nit picking a piece you did to death, but most the critique comments I have seen are in good taste and very polite, and they point out the good things too. I say more power to ya....and maybe this isn't just you should be doing, but everyone else as well.

Thread: Thumbs in the Poser Gallery -- what is this idiocy?!? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
LOL same here I think I am staying out of here from now on. I was just asking why it should be-- I had to post one more time because I feel as if I might have come off wrong-I wasn't trying to make you feel bad and sorry if I did:)
As already stated-- so many other things going on in the world right now than to be worried about gallery thumbs.

Why does it have to be of a woman or mans head?? This is what I don't understand. A point people seem to be missing as well. No one here should be telling anyone what they should have in their thumbs unless it is violating rules-- and suggesting she should do it a certain way to spare the delicate sensibilities of a few isn't right.
The thumb isn't of the couples head because she doesn't want it to be that way. Plain and simple-- it's her art - her thumb- it's sexy- it's tasteful- it doesn't violate TOS...and it certainly doesn't deserve the lumping in it from the author who BTW has nudity thumbs in their gallery. Vali's render has more clothing in her thumb than some of fauve renders.. Pot meet kettle...
edited to add I am through with this discussion...it isn't going anywhere. It's just not in my nature though to not speak out.

I don't think a majority of it is desperation for a hit when people stick nudity in there..why post your art if you don't want people to look at it? Why post a thumb that doesn't capture someones attention to want to see the bigger picture.
Lets face it not everyone is going to be happy with everything they see on here. I agree that any image with nudity needs to be marked as such. But I don't think the nudity thumbs are getting shoved down anyones throat except in the case of people not flagging their work--if you don't want to see it you have the freewill and option of adjusting what you want to see on here. It doesn't help when people don't take those few extra seconds to mark their own work with a nudity flag.
Singling out peoples work and then using rude remarks about how it might just be an indication on how little they think of their work below it isn't cool. And actually what got me started off on this in the first place is that a very talented artists thumb is up there and there is no nudity- just a very sexy torso shot -- it's a tasteful thumb designed to draw attention to the bigger picture. What exactly was wrong with it that it needed to be put up there and lumped in with this topic? This is just my two cents for what it is worth-- and I am not trying to intentionally rub anyones feathers the wrong way...I just thought it was wrong...

It still shows nudity no matter which way you crop it fauve. So I guess I am missing the point here. Would you prefer they put a face when showing t&a? I mean should there be guidelines for nude thumbs other than marking a nudity flag?? It's okay to show some bewbies but make sure ya get a face in there and then the nudity is acceptable? It won't be considered vulgar. pseudo porn, or distasteful...is that the point your trying to make? I am just trying to understand why it is okay for you to single out other artists works and thumbs with jubblies, and thats just fine and dandy, but the rest who don't show it the way you do - are considered in your own words to be artists who think so little of their artistic skills. It just sounds hypocritical. Have a nice evening and take care--btw I think you have a wonderful gallery fauve--I just browsed it earlier but I am gonna have to go back through and take longer look. Keep up the good work!

"The Poser Gallery is already full of almost nothing but nudes -- 95% of which are badly-composed, boringly vacant-eyed female pinups -- but now it's apparently become the fashion to crop one's thumbnails to create the most vulgar and distasteful display possible."
You did say something about nudes per say and it was under the five you picked out. Maybe you just meant her thumb was vulgar-- or boringly vacant-- or badly composed-- or maybe you meant "Is it just that people think so little of their own artistic skills that they feel like the only way to get someone to look at their picture is to have a thumbnail which features 200x200 pixels of 3D-modeled tits or ass?"
Either way I think your kinda lumping people in there where they shouldn't be lumped...I did read your post see! :)
BTW you have a nudie thumb in your gallery-- your wonderful picture called "Sunlight" is a nudie thumb. Is it that the way yours is presented makes it more acceptable than the ones you have posted above? It's your own personal taste and your entitled to it...and your opinion...just as those that might disagree:)

The second one down from Vali has no nudity in the picture- and is far from vulgar and isn't pseudo porn. You need to be a little bit more careful when you single out things and title them like that...clearly if you would have looked at the whole picture you would see everyone has some clothing on. The whole idea of a thumb is to make people want to see the rest of the picture, unfortunately sometimes T&A is more appealing to some. While I can understand IF there is nudity that the little box needs to be checked, this isn't just an adult site... but as for the one you singled out that has NO nudity -if it isn't your taste -- don't look at the rest of the picture. And make sure there is nudity before you start tarring and feather people. Best of luck in your T&A crusade! Anne Marie
Thread: Poser Hot 20........ Is it just me? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
"If they tried something different, people would have less to gripe about." Not really, people would just find something new to gripe about. Look at Daz, they tried something different and someone was complaining about something as minimal as a highlight subtle blinking light over the New to Daz part-- carrying on about how it gave them headaches, and if they didn't remove it they were never going to shop there again ect ect and how they would have to scroll really fast just to not see it. You couldn't even notice it till that person pointed it out, and even then it isn't something I notice everytime I go there. There is gonna be drama no matter where ya go, and just because you try something different doesn't mean people will appriciate it.
Thread: Poser Hot 20........ Is it just me? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I never said anyone shouldn't be allowed to gripe about it- this is a public board for one and two I am all for freedom of speech regarless of whether or not I agree with what people say so there is no need to put something in there that I never said. The Hot 20 has become the way it has because people have allowed it to. Being rewarded publicly for your effort should be the comments you receive, knowing that someone was inspired by your art enough to take the time to comment or critique it, not whether or not it is on some so called popularity list.
Thread: Poser Hot 20........ Is it just me? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Whats the big deal? I am steadily improving, and I think some of my recent work is my best and thats all that matters to me. If you think the Hot 20 is nothing more than just some high school clique with buddies just voting for the sake of voting why continue to look at it??
Just curious though-- since I do paint the hair myself...and I do use filters in ps7 - does that mean automatically I should be considering adding it to a mixed medium category? I have never been in the Hot 20, so maybe that suggestion only applied to those that are...

Thread: Another company trying to fuck the European customers : Curious Labs | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Personally I have shopped Daz rdna and renderosity and any problems on any of these site have been addressed in a very efficent,and/or apologetic manner.(knocks on wood) As for the Euro US dollar thing-- I think it would just be best for you then to buy it in US dollars, AND write to the company and tell them how displeased you are with this practice. You never know what could happen if you approach people in a polite way.
